Bangor’s Marcus Davis returns to mixed martial arts competition Saturday night when he takes on Massachusetts native Chuck “Cold Steel” O’Neil in the main event of the “W-1: Reloaded” card to be held at the Bank United Center located on the University of Miami campus in Coral Gables, Fla.

The welterweight (170-pound) bout is scheduled to be nationally televised beginning at 8 p.m. by Fox Sports Net.

The 38-year-old Davis, 20-8 in his MMA career, is coming off a first-round victory over Travis “Iron Chin” Coyle during the Global Fight League 13 card held last month at the Portland Exposition Building

Davis, also known as “The Irish Hand Grenade,” won via a choke hold submission as the headliner of a 17-bout card.

Davis has now won three straight fights since being released from the top-level UFC last January. In two bouts earlier this year with the Canada-based Maximum Fighting Championships, he earned decisions over Curtis Demarce and Pete Spratt.

The 36-year-old O’Neil (8-4) is a veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter 13” who is hoping to get back on the winning track after losses to Tony Ferguson and Chris Cope.
