BANGOR, Maine — A local man and woman were indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury on charges of threatening a Garland boy with a knife, then beating him with a baseball bat, breaking one of his legs.

Arianna Irwin, 20, and Maverick Manuel, 22, both of Bangor, were indicted on charges of aggravated assault and criminal threatening in connection with the June 12 incident.

Irwin allegedly was upset that the victim brought her ex-boyfriend to her residence on Palm Street. She allegedly went to the Essex street residence where the 15-year-old was staying. Irwin brought along Manuel and a 17-year-old boy, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said earlier this month.

The woman allegedly also threatened a group of five people, ages 18 to 21, and ordered them to give her their cellphones and not to call police.

The name of the 17-year-old has not been released because he is a juvenile.

Irwin and Manuel were arrested on Sept. 1, according to a previously published report. They remained Wednesday at the Penobscot County Jail unable to make bail.

If convicted, Irwin and Manuel face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.
