PORTLAND, Maine — First lady Michelle Obama is due in Maine this week to raise funds for Democratic candidates.

The Democratic State Committee says the wife of President Barack Obama will visit Maine on Friday. A reception at Ocean Gateway in Portland will raise funds for the Democratic National Committee and Obama’s presidential campaign.

Mrs. Obama is expected to attend a luncheon in Cape Elizabeth before the reception.

The president has held fundraisers in August in Chicago, New York and Washington.
