OWLS HEAD, Maine — Relive the days of fuzzy dice and big fins at the Owls Head Transportation Museum Fabulous ’50s, Sensational ’60s Car Meet and Antique Aeroplane Show Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3. Owners of autos from the industry’s most stylish decades are invited to exhibit their vehicles on Runway 17 at the museum. Exhibitors are admitted free. Event admission is $12, free to children under 18.

Featured at the show will be early Thunderbirds and Mustangs, classic Corvettes, Woodies and more. Visitors are invited to wear poodle skirts, bobby socks, leather jackets and T-shirts. Three Button Deluxe will play tunes of the era 12:20-3 p.m.

What’s your favorite ’50s or ’60s car? A 1955 Chevy? A 1964 MGB? Or 1968 Chevelle SS? Attendees will have the opportunity to cast a ballot for either the People’s Choice or Kid’s Choice awards.

Owners of pre-1991 vehicles are invited to exhibit at no charge at this and all other museum non-auction events.

As part of the day’s activities, the museum will demonstrate some of its turn-of-the-century automobiles and give free rides in Ford Model Ts. Young children can practice driving skills in the Kids Corral area, which features pedal cars and pedal planes.

The antique aeroplane show will begin at 9:30 a.m., weather permitting. Aircraft conservator Karl Erickson and a team of volunteers have been working to get the museum’s fleet of World War I-era biplanes ready to take to the skies.  An open flightline will allow visitors to get an up close look at the planes as well as talk to the pilots.

A special showing of the movie “Grease: Sing-a-Long” will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 3, at the Strand Theatre in Rockland.
