Outlook: The Black Bears make their long-awaited home debut against the Mules in their final nonleague game of the season. The series dates to 1886 and is the third-longest in UMaine annals behind Bates and Bowdoin. The Bears have won three of their last five and six of 10. They continue to struggle offensively and have a team batting average of .265. They’re averaging only 4.7 runs per game. Division III Colby has dropped four in a row and is 0-6 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. The Mules, coached by former UMaine pitching standout Dale Plummer, are hitting .297 and putting up six runs per contest.
