Census: Maine population grows 4.2 percent

Maine’s population grew by 4.2 percent between 2000 and 2010, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Census Bureau. Overall, the nation grew at 9.7 percent during that time period, while the fastest-growing state, Nevada, grew at a stunning 35.1 percent. The nation’s population now stands at 308,745,535, with Maine’s population at 1,328,361, enough for the state to hold onto its two members of the House of Representatives.
