Maine regulatory reform panel digs into bill

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — After a hearing on a wide-ranging regulatory reform bill that drew big crowds to the State House and much public commentary, lawmakers are getting down to the nitty-gritty of fashioning just what the final product will look like.

The Committee on Regulatory Fairness and Reform holds its latest work session Thursday on the bill known as Legislative Document No. 1. Scores of proposals have resulted from a series of public meetings the committee held across the state.

Still in concept form, the bill calls for law changes to improve Maine’s business climate and create jobs.

It also includes eliminating duplicate or unnecessary and redundant regulations.
