Is it time for stricter gun control?

The Tucson shootings have launched another round of debate about gun laws. Is it time for stricter gun laws, perhaps limiting the amount of rounds available in automatic and semi-automatic ammunition cartridges? Should certain types of weapons be banned?

Should the federal government establish a system that screens would-be gun owners? Or should gun ownership remain as is, or perhaps be even less restrictive?
