DOVER-FOXCROFT – Gladys J. Huntington, 86, died Dec. 4, 2010, with her family at her side at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Abbot, the daughter of John and Gladys (Tozier) French. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bishop of Guilford. She spent many wonderful summers at their camp in Rockwood. She met Howard E. Huntington, a national track star, at a Foxcroft Academy meet. He was the love of her life. They married March 9, 1945. Gladys and her husband were lifelong members of Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church, where Gladys served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of 3-M Club and Esther Circle. They were also life members of Piscataquis YMCA. Gladys was a member of Rebekah’s, and enjoyed knitting, sewing and camping at Peaks-Kenny State Park. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Howard; her sister, Grace Currier; and her daughter, Sandra J. Pratt. She is survived by two daughters, Linda H. Cohen and her husband, Bruce, of Somerville, Mass., and Rita L. Farrington and her husband, Jasper, of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, Amy and Erin Kimball, Janice and Jeannie Sargent, and Judy Morrison; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Mann, and Joseph and Danny Morrison. She will also be remembered by Adam Tambone, husband of Amy, Jacob Vegas, fiance of Jeannie, and Seth Hendricks, fiance of Janice. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Lary Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church with the Rev.
