BANGOREmbalming and Edgar Allan Poe for Halloween, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 and 30, Thomas A. Hill House, 159 Union St. Learn about Victorian funeral practices and early embalming techniques. Followed by a dramatic reading by Ben Layman of Penobscot Theatre Company of Edgar Allan Poe’s horror story “The Premature Burial.” Hosted by the Bangor Museum and History Center and Bangor Arts. BANGOR — Downtown Bangor Halloween Block Party, noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. The block party includes an outdoor market in West Market Square, a silent film showing of “Jekyll & Hyde” at Penobscot Theatre Company, performances, a miniparade, and trick-or-treating at downtown businesses.
