AUGUSTA, Maine — With Gov. John Baldacci’s time in office drawing to a close, his approval rating has hit a new low in his two terms as governor.
A Critical Insights poll says 35 percent of those surveyed said they approved of Baldacci’s handling of the job. Fifty-five percent disapproved and 10 percent didn’t know.
The Portland polling firm says the latest mark is the lowest for Baldacci since it began tracking approval ratings in the fall of 2003. Back then, 72 percent of respondents approved of the job he was doing.
The results are based on a phone survey between Oct. 13-17 of 600 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
