BREWER and BANGOR – On March 29, 1981, in Bangor, a beautiful boy was born. On Oct. 14, 2010, a wonderful young man is gone, Adam Thomas Smiley. Adam attended Brewer schools, where he enjoyed playing in the school band. In his youth he was a member of the Hurricane Swim Team. He enjoyed hikes up Mount Katahdin with his family. Adam enjoyed sailing along the coast of Maine with his parents and grandparents. He loved playing the piano, especially classical music. There are many wonderful memories of camping at Mount Desert Campground with his family. Adam was a great son and brother. He was appreciated by all for his sense humor. Adam enjoyed good conversation on politics and the economy. All the jobs he ever had he always worked his hardest. He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Deborah (White) Smiley of Brewer; a brother, Jonathan D. Smiley of Hampden; and Uncle Dave and Aunt Harriet Smiley of Hermon and Aunt Elizabeth Smiley of Abbott. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Arline and Oaksman D. Smiley; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Seretta White; and his stepgrandfather, Herbert E. Douglas. He will be greatly missed by his family, many close friends and co-workers. Adams family invites relatives and friends to a gathering of remembrance 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Graveside services will be private for the family at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
