The Associated Press

LEWISTON, Maine — A toddler is in fair condition after falling from a third story window.

Police say 22-month-old David O’Connor fell after he apparently climbed out of his crib and went through a screen.

The Sun Journal newspaper says David’s father, Jonathan O’Connor, looked out the window when he noticed his son missing and saw him standing on the ground below looking up.

David was taken to the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. On Tuesday the boy was reported in fair condition.

Lewiston Police Lt. Michael McGonagle is urging people with young children to take safety precautions such as using window locks and installing safety bars.
