MADAWASKA – Arthur L. Branscombe, 84, passed away July 8, 2010, at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born June 8, 1926, in Rothwell, New Brunswick, son of Lee and Nina (Barton) Branscombe. He met the love of his life, Germaine Albert, in spring 1948, and they were married in October of that year. Arthur worked for 16 years as a tour supervisor for Fraser Paper, retiring in 1988. He had a keen sense of humor and had made many friends along the way. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and making beautiful needlepoint pictures for relaxation. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Germaine (Albert) Branscombe of Madawaska; one brother, Garnet Branscombe and his wife, Rolly, of Edmundston; two daughters, Patricia Wrisley and her husband, Dayton, of Lisbon Falls and Linda Cyr and her husband, Roland, of Allagash; one son, Allen Branscombe and his wife, Joyce, of Madawaksa; eight grandchildren, Brian, Jessica, Karen, Cindy, Vicky, Davis, Travis and Erica; and six great-grandchildren, Michelle, Connor, Kaitlyn, Cyprian, Mackenzie and soon to arrive Kristiana. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Pearl, Beatrice and Ruby. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will be afterward at the parish cemetery.
