ALFRED, Maine — A New York man who pleaded guilty to conspiracy for his role in the killing of a man in Old Orchard Beach is going to prison for eight years.

The sentence imposed Wednesday on Rennie Cassimy was agreed upon under a plea deal reached in January in which he agreed to testify against two others.

Prosecutors say Cassimy did not actively participate in the killing of Winston George on June 20, 2008, who was strangled and suffocated. George’s wife, Darlene George, and her brother Jeffrey Williams, of West Hempstead, N.Y., were convicted Friday of murder and conspiracy.

Cassimy told jurors he and Darlene George were having an affair and that she came up with the plan. He’ll likely be deported to his native Trinidad and Tobago on his release.
