SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a body police found inside the pickup truck of a missing Savannah college student is the student’s.

The body was discovered Tuesday in the driver’s seat of a truck police found submerged in a creek.

Micah Ward, special agent in charge of the Statesboro field office of the GBI, told The Associated Press late Wednesday evening that authorities had used dental records to confirm the body was that of 19-year-old Bryce Tarter, a student at Armstrong Atlantic State University who has been missing since Jan. 31.

Tarter of Kittery, Maine, was last seen leaving the campus in his truck. A road nearby dead-ends at the creek where the vehicle was found.

Ward says authorities are still awaiting the results of testing on the body to determine a cause of death.
