NEWRY, Maine — A 58-year-old Texas man has died after skiing into a tree at Maine’s Sunday River ski resort.

The Sun Journal of Lewiston said Joseph Michalski died after hitting a tree shortly after 1 p.m. Monday while skiing on a steep icy trail called Eureka.

Michalski’s daughter told the newspaper that her father moved from Massachusetts to Fort Worth last spring and had flown to Maine for an annual ski outing with friends.
