EDDINGTON – William Thornton Hall, 88, died Nov. 18, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1921, in Vinal Haven, son of Burton T. and Ida J. (Madden) Hall. Bill was a lifelong farmer and had been employed as a steelworker for Bancroft-Martin. He had a major interest in woodcarving and was very proud of the blue ribbons he received for his rose carving and one of his birds. He was a member of Ralph J. Pollard Lodge No. 217 AF & AM of Orrington, Mount Moriah No. 6 Royal Arch Chapter of which he was a past high priest, St. John’s Commandry, Bangor Council No. 5 R & SM, Anah Shriners and a member of Foot Patrol. Bill was also a member of Riverside Grange, Penobscot Pomona, Maine State Grange and Elks Lodge, Englewood, Fla. Surviving are three sons, William A. Hall and his wife, Susan, of Hampden, Joseph T. Hall and his wife, Lene, of Bangor, and Blaine M. Hall and his wife, Nola, of Port Arthur, Texas; a stepdaughter, Sylvia Morrill of Canaan; 10 grandchildren, Michael Hall, Timothy Hall, Patricia McBreairty, Karen Wood, Joanna McCormick, Blaine Hall Jr., Ralph Hall, Matthew Hall, Andrew Hall and Nathanael Hall; five stepgrandchildren, John Hawes, Kurt Hawes, Kellee Hawes, Larry Morrill and Barry Morrill; nine great-grandchildren, 18 great-stepgrandchildren, four great-great-stepgrandchildren; four brothers, Gerald Hall of Union, Robert Hall of Hope, Richard Hall and Timothy Hall, both of Florida; one sister, Bette Higgins of California; numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Ruby; and a sister, Nancy. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the officers and members of Ralph J. Pollard Lodge, Orrington. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the funeral home with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone officiating.
