AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine Gov. John Baldacci says Americans are still feeling the impacts of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
In his weekly radio address, Baldacci said the war on terrorism continues, at a cost of the lives of soldiers from Maine and elsewhere.
In Maine, Sept. 11 has been proclaimed a Day of Service and Remembrance. Baldacci says Mainers have an opportunity to make a difference in their communities by volunteering at school, donating groceries to a food pantry or helping neighbors who might be struggling.
In the Republican response, House GOP leader Josh Tardy of Newport talks about the health care debate. Tardy says President Barack Obama missed a golden opportunity in his speech Wednesday night to start over, but instead tried to defend the plan put forth by House Democrats.
