Super-sized Bachelor light on value

Oh no, they didn’t!

FOX has made me giggle once again with their newest reality attempt. It’s another spin-off, but I think it should have spun the other way and never made it to our television screens.

“More to Love” is a mirror image of “The Bachelor,” only it’s more like one of those fun house mirrors that makes it look like you gained a few pounds.

That’s right. They’ve supersized the tiny troupe of size two gals looking to be the next Mrs. Right in an attempt to more accurately represent the real American woman.

Story continues below advertisement.

Let me back up before you start to criticize me for being apprehensive about not giving more love to “More to Love.”

I used to be overweight — way overweight — and there’s nothing wrong with being an average-sized woman, but we all know that reality TV isn’t about reality at all.

It’s about ratings and drama. So if “More to Love” really can show me that there’s more for me to want to watch as this “husky hunk” searches for his curvy lady luck, I’ll be right back here in a few weeks with nothing but sweet words. Until then, I remain skeptical because reality spin-offs rarely are as successful as the real deal.

Tune in at 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, to see what you think. I’ll have to record it on the DVR (a.k.a. the thing I can’t live without) so that I don’t miss “America’s Got Talent.”

And while the marriage of “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi to Maine contractor Mike McCuddy might be old news, I’d still like to congratulate them and wish the newlyweds a long and happy life together. For those you who need a recap, the couple tied the knot on Sunday in Prospect Harbor at the church across from DioGuardi’s summer home.
