Baldacci launches stimulus Web site

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. John Baldacci has launched a new Web page to help Mainers track the developing federal economic stimulus package.

Baldacci said there’s overwhelming interest in the stimulus, formally known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. He said the Web page, which he unveiled Wednesday, will serve as a valuable tool for the public. Baldacci also said a section will be added to allow public comment.

The Web site provides information and resources so Maine people can track not only the legislation’s progress in Congress, but also actions taken by state government related to the stimulus.

The site is http:///www.maine.gov/governor/baldacci/policy/Recovery2009.html. It is linked from http:///www.maine.gov and the governor’s Web site: http:///www.maine.gov/governor/baldacci/index.shtml.
