CAMDEN – Banette E. “Benny” Bagley, 84, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, Rockport. Born Aug. 31, 1924, in Edgecomb, she was the daughter of Banfield P. and Doris (Robbins) Knight. She grew up and attended schools in Belfast, and married Harold L. Bagley. For 37 years Benny worked in customer service for First National Stores, Rockport, and later in the Rockland store. Through her warm and caring personality, she developed many friendships among co-workers and customers. She will be remembered for her wonderful smile and outgoing personality. For many years, Benny and her husband lived on Russell Avenue, Rockport. She later moved to Mountainside Park, Camden and had enjoyed spending the winter months in Sebastian, Fla. In 2007 she moved to Megunticook House. Her hobbies included cooking and knitting. She enjoyed spending time with and going out to eat with her close friends. Surviving is her sister, Emily Gearhart and her husband, Harold, of Gowanda, N.Y.; two nieces, Doris Cunningham and her husband, Jim, of Belfast and Patricia Ifkovich of New York; a cousin, Mary Thompson of Belfast; several great-nieces, Amber Frisch, Amanda Cunningham and Kim Ifkovich; a great-nephew, Tim Ifkovich; and a very special friend, Barbara Day Pruitt of Rockport. Her husband, Harold L. Bagley, predeceased her Oct. 29, 1986. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden, with the Rev. Dr. Susan Stonestreet officiating. Interment will be at Seaview Cemetery, Russell Avenue, Rockport. Memorial donations may be made to Kno-Wal-Lin, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841.
