EXETER – Thomas Mostyn Jones, 70, died Sept. 23, 2007, at his home after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was born May 12, 1937, in Radburn, N.J., the son of Mostyn and Frances (Boardman) Jones. Thomas graduated high school from The Gunnery School, Washington, Conn. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated from Florida Atlantic College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. Later in life, after his retirement, he returned to school and graduated from Eastern Maine Community College with an electrician’s license. For more than 27 years Tom served his country in the Air National Guard in Bangor. He was a member of 101 Air Refueling Wing “MAINEiacs” and worked as a boom operator and instructor. He retired in 1997 as a master sergeant. Thomas married Donna (Braley) Cole, Sept. 6, 1990. Tom and Donna enjoyed traveling in their R.V., stopping to play golf in at least 42 states. Tom was an avid reader and enjoyed doing genealogy. He also was a scuba diver and enjoyed diving for scallops with his best friend, Bruce Gray. He was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Donna M. Jones of Exeter; two sons and their wives, Mark and Lynn Jones of Georgia and Teddy and Annie Cole of Stratham, N.H.; three daughters and their husbands, Barbara Lorri and Thorney Mincey of Georgia, Theresa and Jack Morrill of Naples and Christine and Marc Lariviere of North Hampton, N.H.; one brother, William Jones of San Jose, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Braleigh, Ty, Britni, Marc, Riley, Shannon and Rebecca; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Jack and one more coming in May; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be remembered by special friends, Bruce Gray, Kim Lander, Lauren Romain, Amy (Coleman) Goldstein and all his MAINEiacs family. A sister, Jacqueline Bramble; and a brother, Robin Jones, predeceased him. Memorial services with full Air Force honors will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Sebasticook Valley Community Center, 81 North St., Newport, with Chaplain Lt. Col. Richard Dickinson officiating. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the family to help with medical expenses.
