EASTON – M. Freda Langley, 89, wife of the late Rupert S. Langley, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at a Mars Hill nursing facility, after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Limestone, Siding, New Brunswick, the daughter of Alonzo and Agnes (Sullivan) Dixon. She attended local schools and was married to Rupert S. Langley, June 23, 1937. She was employed by W.T. Grant Department Store, Presque Isle, where she held the position of floor manager for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Langley was predeceased by her husband, Rupert S. Langley, Oct. 19, 1997; one foster daughter, Romona Langley Swoger, in 1992; four brothers, William, Leonard, Edward and George Dixon; and two sisters, Laura Dixon and Adelia McCarthy. She is survived by one brother, Lloyd Dixon and his wife, Ruby; one sister, Annie Goodine, all of Aroostook, New Brunswick; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Dixon of Saco, and Gertrude Dixon of Pembroke, Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 8:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, at St. Denis Catholic Church, 143 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. Interment will take place immediately after the funeral Mass at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. A continued time of fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the interment service at VFW Paul Lockhart Post 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Langley to a charity or organization of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
