JACKSONVILLE – Louise E. Lund died March 28, 2006, at Machias. She was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Jacksonville, the daughter of George and Ivadell (Huntley) Dowling. She attended local schools and graduated from Washington Academy. She loved music and dancing, attending weekly dances in Jacksonville, Wesley and Dennysville whenever possible. She moved to Woodland in 1956, where she and her husband, Lawrence, operated a convenience store for six years. In 1962, she returned to Jacksonville to live near her girlhood home and continued many old and precious relationships. One of life’s greatest joys was the time she spent on Jacksonville Campground as a child with her grandparents through adulthood. She and so many of her family and friends maintained strong and affectionate ties to the campground throughout the years. She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Elbridge and Verna Dowling of Harrington and Carlton and Marjorie Dowling of Jacksonville; a sister and brother-in-law, Sherman and Amy Graham of Machias; and a daughter and son-in-law, William and Ellen Richards of East Hampton, Conn. She is also survived by grandchildren, Alphonse Richards, Donna Lund and Julie Agli of East Hampton, Conn., Brandi Miller and Michael Lund of Machias; and great-grandchildren, Michelle, Lisa and William Richards and Tyler Agli, of East Hampton. She also leaves a very special daughter-in-law, Marsha Lund and her children, Jessica and Michael Drake and Ashlee Worsham of Calais. She was predeceased by two brothers, Olyn Dowling and Cecil Dowling; a son, Ronald Lund; and a grandson, James Richards. A memorial service will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jacksonville Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias.
