LAMOINE – Eugene E. Farrin Sr., 87, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at an Ells-worth health care facility. He was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Sullivan, the son of the late Frank L. and Dora (Martin) Farrin. Mr. Farrin was enlisted in the U.S. Army, served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged with rank of private first class. After his return from the service, he began working at Jackson Laboratories in Hamilton Station, Salisbury Cove, where he worked in the genetics lab-oratory on rabbits, as a senior research assistant for more than 25 years. Mr. Farrin was an active deacon in the Eden Baptist Church, Bar Harbor. Gene enjoyed hunting and fish-ing, and being with his family and spending time at his camp at Flanders Pond, Sullivan. Mr. Farrin was a very compassionate and caring man, who looked out for others in their time of need. He shared 53 years of marriage with the late Ella (Preble) Farrin. Family members include his children, Eugene E. Farrin Jr. and wife, Jackie, of Surry, Bruce Farrin and wife, Sharyn, of Ellsworth, Irving Farrin and wife, Rhae, of Otter Creek, Tammie Hooper and husband, James, of Belfast and William Butler and wife, Angie, of Lamoine; his grandchildren, Kelley, Heidi, Stacey, Craig, James, Emily, Sierra, Gillian and Karla; great-grandchildren, Farrin, Lydia, Autumn, Allison, Mackenzie, Andrew, Brandi, Cailee and Kaitlyn; a great-great-granddaughter, Madison; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila Butler in 1980. He was also predeceased by a brother and two sisters. Family and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 9, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Eden Baptist Church, Salisbury Cove, with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating.
