BANGOR – Donald E. “Humpy” Humphrey, 84, of Bangor, a resident of Orono Commons for several years, died Nov. 10, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born in Bangor Nov. 3, 1920, the son of Alvie and Annie B. (Higgins) Humphrey. Humpy was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and formerly employed by the City of Bangor highway department, retiring from construction work. He was a sports enthusiast enjoying baseball, football, hockey, wrestling and boxing. He was predeceased by his parents and special friend Clifford Chadbourne. Surviving are Virginia Chadbourne Tucker of Bangor, Dwight Chadbourne, Terri Chadbourne, Dianna Chadbourne, Scott Tucker and their families who loved Humpy very much, as he loved them, and was an important part of their lives. He will be sadly missed by a special friend, Carroll Tucke,r and his Orono Commons family. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at EMMC officiating. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until time of service Monday. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden.
