A Frenchville motorcyclist suffered critical injuries when he attempted to pass a truck in Grand Isle Tuesday.

Jeffrey Cyr, 38, was driving north on Main Street on his 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle at the time of the crash, to which Maine State Police responded, Maine Public Safety spokeswoman Shannon Moss said Friday.

A dump truck in front of Cyr started to make a lefthand turn from Main Street onto Grivois Road, at which time Cyr tried to pass the truck and instead hit the vehicle’s rear bed, police said.

The impact threw Cyr from the motorcycle into the road. He was not wearing a helmet, Moss said.

The Madawaska Ambulance Service took him to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent, where he remains in critical condition, Moss said.

The dump truck driver was not injured.
