ELLSWORTH – The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce, Ellsworth School  Department and Community Action in Aroostook, Washington and Hancock counties  invite local business leaders and community members to a Business After Hours Block Party from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 on Avery Lane.

The event will take place between the Ellsworth School Department office at 11 Avery Lane and the CAAWHC Customer Service Center at 18 Avery Lane. Guests will have the opportunity to network with fellow business professionals, make new connections and learn more about the organizations serving the region.

Attendees are invited to tour both facilities and enjoy food, music and conversation  throughout the evening. Several food stations will feature dishes representing the diverse geographic regions served by CAAWHC across Aroostook, Washington and Hancock counties.

Ellsworth School Department and CAAWHC are also excited to welcome the Darling’s Ice Cream for a Cause truck to the block party. The Darlings Ice Cream for a Cause truck makes ice cream available for free and accepts voluntary donations by cash or check. Donations received by Darling’s Ice Cream for a Cause at the block party will be split between the Ellsworth School Department and CAAWHC.

The Ellsworth School Department moved to their Avery Lane location in late 2024.

“We are really looking forward to being able to show community members our building,” Ellsworth Superintendent of Schools Amy Boles said. “We want our community to see how  this space has really given us an opportunity to better invest in the lives of students.”

While Hancock County early care and education services have been located at Avery Lane for several years, the primary Hancock County customer service center has only been located at Avery Lane since late 2025.

“We are always looking for opportunities to raise awareness of who we are and what we do  in the community,” CAAWHC Chief Executive Officer Jason Parent said. “Given our locations, partnering with the Ellsworth School Department on an event like Business After Hours just makes sense on a lot of levels.”

The Business After Hours Block Party offers a relaxed setting for networking, community engagement and relationship building while highlighting the work both organizations do to  serve local residents.
