BANGOR, Maine — Old Town High School showed why it is the top seed in the Class B North Tournament on Saturday morning.
The Coyotes put on an impressive performance, jumping out to a 25-8 lead through the first quarter and cruising to a 68-39 win over the youthful eighth seeded Caribou Vikings.
Old Town, now 19-1, will take on fourth seed Presque Isle, 14-6, in Wednesday 3:30 p.m. semifinal.
Caribou concluded a 10-10 season.

Senior guard Maddie Emerson pumped in a game-high 19 points for Old Town and she also had five rebounds.

Old Town scored the game’s first nine points and never looked back.

Old Town finished out the quarter on a 16-5 run.
Loring scored 10 points in the first quarter including a pair of threes.

“My teammates got me the ball when I was open and I was able to finish my shots today,” Loring said.
Maddie Emerson had seven points with two of her baskets coming off passes from her younger sister.
Caribou rattled off a 7-2 run to begin the second period to make it 27-15 but Old Town responded with a 15-4 spurt to close out the half and sew up the win.
“Old Town played great. They played like a number one seed,” said Caribou coach Kayla Richards Brown. “They made a lot of shots. They can score inside and they can score outside. They’re hard to defend.”
“The girls came ready to play. They were focused and did a good job,” said Old Town coach Heather Richards.

“We’ve worked really hard in practice. We didn’t have a tournament last year so we were really excited to be out here playing this year,” said Maddie Emerson. “Everyone played super good. I’m really proud of our team.”
Old Town held Caribou to an 11-for-44 shooting performance from the floor.
“We’ve been working on our defense all week because we know Caribou has great offensive schemes. They can drive to the hole, they can shoot outside so we knew we would have to play tough [defense],” Richards said.
