Another 197 new coronavirus cases have been reported across the state, Maine health officials said Sunday.
The number of coronavirus cases diagnosed in the past 14 days statewide is 2,825. This is an estimation of the current number of active cases in the state, as the Maine CDC is no longer tracking recoveries for all patients. That’s up from 2,797 on Saturday.
No new deaths were reported on Sunday, leaving the statewide death toll at 736.
Sunday’s report brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Maine to 49,850, according to the Maine CDC. That’s up from 49,653 on Saturday.
Of those, 38,324 have been confirmed positive, while 11,526 were classified as “probable cases,” the Maine CDC reported.

Maine’s seven-day average for new coronavirus cases is 200.4, up from 196.9 a day ago, down from 206.4 a week ago and up from 163.4 a month ago.
The new case rate statewide Sunday was 1.47 cases per 10,000 residents, and the total case rate statewide was 372.46.
The most cases have been detected in Mainers in their 20s, while Mainers over 80 years old make up the majority of deaths. More cases and deaths have been recorded in women than men.

So far, 1,657 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus. Information about those who are currently hospitalized wasn’t immediately available Sunday.
The total statewide hospitalization rate on Sunday was 12.38 patients per 10,000 residents.
Cases have been reported in Androscoggin (5,234), Aroostook (1,388), Cumberland (13,823), Franklin (977), Hancock (1,031), Kennebec (4,222), Knox (797), Lincoln (647), Oxford (2,502), Penobscot (4,533), Piscataquis (379), Sagadahoc (966), Somerset (1,356), Waldo (695), Washington (760) and York (10,529) counties. Information about where 11 additional cases were reported wasn’t immediately available.

Overall, 2,046,327 tests have been administered and the statewide positivity rate is 2.64 percent.
As of Saturday, 664,807 Mainers have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, with 253,301 who have received two doses.
As of Sunday morning, the coronavirus had sickened 30,219,071 people in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as caused 548,828 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
Nationwide, 143 million doses of the vaccine have been administered, according to Bloomberg.
