Ducklings cross the road at Long Sands Beach in York Beach, Maine.

A family of ducks had traffic at a standstill along Long Sands beach one evening last week.

Susan Mac Queen, who was walking towards the Long Sands General Store with her husband, said “everyone was captivated.”

“The darling little family causing the back-up walked down the road to the Cutty Sark Motel. The ducklings had quite a time negotiating those rocks to the surf, just as we humans do, but they followed Mom, who patiently waited for them to catch up with her. And into the surf they went,” Mac Queen said.
