The Penobscot Valley High School girls basketball team defeated Hodgdon High School 49-30 on Tuesday, and will move on to the C North quarterfinals.

Penobscot Valley entered the game as the No. 4 seed with a 14-4 record. Hodgdon was seeded 13th with a 10-8 record and ends the season 10-9.

PVHS junior Lexi Ireland scored her 1000th point during the game. She is the daughter of former Calais High School and Husson University player Becky Moholland Ireland, who was recently inducted into the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame, and younger sister of current Husson player Sami Ireland.

Penobscot Valley will face the Narraguagus girls later this week in a quarterfinal game. Narraguagus defeated Searsport 60-37 Tuesday night.
