OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency is investigating alleged methamphetamine production at the home where a member of a white supremacist group was arrested Thursday.
“MDEA’s meth lab team is on scene, along with OOB police and fire departments and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection,” Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said in a Friday news release.
McCausland said the methamphetamine lab was discovered by local police inside a vehicle parked outside a home at 42 Milliken St.
On Thursday, Jacob Hastings, a 27-year-old member of the Aryan Nation, was arrested by police after a foot pursuit through downtown Old Orchard Beach. He was wanted on outstanding warrants. Police found him near the home, where they also found the car with evidence of methamphetamine production.
McCausland said this is the 98th meth lab discovered in Maine so far this year. In all of 2015, just 56 were investigated.
