State police arrested a Windham man Friday night in connection with the death of his wife, according to a news release from Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Noah Gaston, 33, was arrested in Kingfield while visiting his mother and was taken to Cumberland County Jail, the release said. He has been charged with murder and is being held without bail, a jail official confirmed Saturday.

Alicia Gaston, 34, was shot and killed by her husband in their home just before dawn on Jan. 14, police have said.

The couple’s three children, ages 9, 8 and 2, were in the home at the time of the shooting. McCausland said Friday they are staying with relatives.

Gaston will make his first court appearance in Portland on Monday or Tuesday, the release said.
