WATERBORO, Maine — Police say a Parsonsfield man is behind bars after an early morning assault on his ex-girlfriend in Waterboro and for injuring a York County Sheriff’s Department sergeant.

Eric Olin, 30, is being held in the York County Jail without bail after police said he broke into his former girlfriend’s mobile home on Sokokis Trail in Waterboro around 1 a.m. and assaulted her and a man while they were sleeping.

When police arrived, they found Olin hiding in the home, but Olin resisted arrest. While being taken out of the home, Olin reportedly lunged at Sgt. Steven Thistlewood, knocking him down. Thistlewood’s right leg buckled, and he suffered an injury to his medial collateral ligament. He was treated and released and referred to a specialist.

York County Sheriff William King said Thistlewood will be out of work for an unknown amount of time.

Olin was arrested for violating conditions of release from a previous domestic violence incident involving the same woman, assaulting her and assaulting Thistlewood. He will make his first court appearance Monday.
