Tri for Y attains fundraising goal

ORRINGTON — The 104 participants in the Tri for the Y raised $15,000, reaching the goal for the fundraiser, at the event on July 19 at Brewer Lake in Orrington.

Diane Dickerson, CEO of the Bangor Y, participated in the evening raising more than $3,700 in pledges.

Tri for the Y contestants swam 850 yards, biked 12.4 miles and ran 3.1 miles.

The overall top male finisher was Jayson Seaman of New Hampshire with a time of 01:08:35.7, who has won the event every year except for last year. His mother said he does triathlons all around the country and the Try for the Y is his favorite.

Overall top female finisher was Brooke Hackett whose time was 01:16:33.8. She won overall female last year.

Overall relay team was GAC Chemical, consisting of team members Brett Deyling and Kyle Sullivan who finished the event with a time of 01:17:35.6.

Title sponsors were Twin City Family Medicine and Gaftek, and Bangor Daily News, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Capital Ambulance, Cormier Bus Company, Creative Imaging Group, Dennis Paper and Food Service, Dr. Ellen Lauer, Foster Imaging, GAC Chemical Corporation, Memorymaker Photography, Road ID, Sam’s Club, The Snowman Group, town of Orrington and
