NEWRY, Maine — A young man suffered a head injury in a skiing accident at Sunday River on Saturday morning.

Sunday River spokeswoman Sarah Devlin said the accident happened around 9 a.m., and the man, between the ages of 18 and 22, has been taken by Lifeflight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. The skier’s name has not been released.

Devlin said the man was on 3D, an intermediate terrain park featuring jumps, pipes and boxes on which skiers and snowboarders can perform tricks.

As far as what caused his injury, “I’m still gathering that information,” Devlin said late Saturday morning.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
