Firefighters battling blaze in Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Fire Department was on the scene of a structure fire that broke out on Main St. in the early evening, police confirmed Sunday.

Presque Isle police Sgt. Eric Erickson confirmed that the department was on the scene of the fire, which was in a building located between Rite Aid and Governor’s Restaurant.

The fire broke out after 4 p.m., police said.

Police were asking the public to avoid the area, as firefighters had hoses pulled across Main Street and Academy Street to fight the blaze.

Information about any occupants in the building was not immediately available.
