BANGOR, Maine — One intoxicated concertgoer at Friday night’s Waterfront Concert, which featured a triple bill of Journey, Pat Benatar and Loverboy, was asked to leave after he became “obnoxious” but refused, Bangor police Lt. Tom Reagan said on Sunday.

Donald Rogers, 48, of Glenburn “was drunk and disorderly,” the lieutenant said. “The staff asked him to leave. He kept stopping and refused to leave.”

Rogers was arrested at about 8:15 p.m. Friday for disorderly conduct and missed the rest of the concert because he was taken to Penobscot County Jail. He has since been released, a jail official said Sunday.

No other arrests were made at the concert, Reagan said.

    1.  A very classy crowd indeed!  Over 9000 patrons bringing money into downtown Bangor…its inevitable that there is going to be a few rocket scientists in the crowd.

Heck, with only 4 comments on this article thus far, we got one right here.

    2. Really?  Are you aware that those “noisy” events bring  much needed money  to many local businesses? I for one am happy that these shows are here and I hope the lineup and variety of acts keeps improving…GO alex!   There needs to be more to do in this city and this is a step in the right direction.,even if the grumpy old citizens of this city don’t think so. Everything around here can’t be geared towards one population.   Sorry it’s not 1950.

  1. There are bound to be a few people who drink too much at concerts, but as cold and wet as it was, he should have been drinking hot chocolate….lol….The staff usually does a pretty good job and if you consider how many people have been to the shows this year the amount of arrests have been relatively minor in comparison…..

Personally, I’d like to see them do more to controll the smoking. MOST people go to the designated areas but you can always find someone who won’t do that; and even cigarettes, I can deal with, but the two folks who sat two rows in front of us passed their joints and pipe back and forth all night and you can’t hide that smell. .. I don’t care if they want to smoke but I do care when we have to smell that all evening.

But once the shows start, the security sorely lacks in the middle part of the venure at every show I’ve every been to. If there is no chance of one of them at least walking by, then people will just do what they want with little regards to others

    1. I know what you mean lots of people can’t go because of the perfume and strong scented dedorants and after shave. It isn’t the smell that is offensive it’s the toxic chemicals they are made out of that make, people ill with headaches, sinus swelling to the point it makes your teeth hurt, stuffed up and can’t breathe thru their noses, ears plugged, sore throats and loss of breath,
I wish they’d do something about that because people have no regard for others. Until it happens to them, and the more they wear the sooner it will happen but meanwhile it discriminates against many people.

  2. I find it rather amusing that they have such an issue controlling the drugs and the alcohol consumption but,  Lord help you if you have a bottle cap on your water!

    1.  Bottle caps are removed for two reasons…..the bottle caps themselves can take out an eye if thrown and more importantly a bottle full of water being thrown at a stage hurts a lot more than an open container spilling its contents during the flight.

      1. Are you serious??? I can do more damage to an eye with my finger! So, I can’t take those in either? And… from row 63… pretty sure I won’t hurt anyone on the stage!

        1. Every stage show has a list of do’s and don’t….point and shoot camera’s only, no chairs, no umbrella’s and YES, no bottle caps is one of those unheard of requests for most every show so it becomes the standard. Google it….its common practice everywhere, not just at the Waterfront.
