HERMON, Maine — Maine State Police have identified the two men who were shot — one of them fatally — during a home invasion Thursday morning in Hermon.
Dead is Robert Dellairo, 30, of Bangor, state police spokesman Stephen McCausland said late Thursday night. McCausland said an autopsy is scheduled Friday at the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta to determine Dellairo’s cause of death.
Wounded was Philip McIntyre, 19, also of Bangor. McCausland said McIntyre was treated and released from a Bangor hospital and has been charged by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department in connection with the incident, which occurred about 9 a.m. at Duran Apartments at 1835 Outer Hammond St. in Hermon.
McIntyre was being held at Penobscot County Jail late Thursday night on a charge of burglary, a jail official confirmed.
A team of State Police detectives are now working with Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies to determine the circumstances of the shooting, McCausland said.
He also said that two women were with Dellairo and McIntyre during the incident and that they have been interviewed.
There were two men in the apartment in which the shootings took place and one of them is believed to have fired the shots, he said.
The names of the women and the two men inside the apartment were being withheld late Thursday night.
The investigation into the shootings was initiated by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department but because of the death, which reportedly occurred about 3:15 p.m., the case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Maine State Police, Penobscot County Chief Deputy Troy Morton announced Thursday afternoon at a news conference at the Penobscot County Jail.
During the news conference, Morton said detectives were looking at crime scenes in Hermon as well as in Bangor.
Earlier in the day, police said that three had broken into an apartment on Outer Hammond Street and that two of them were shot in the legs by a person who lives there.
“We have three people in custody as of right now and we are still in the process of investigating,” Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mike Burgess said Thursday morning.
“Two people were home at the time of the invasion,” Burgess said, adding that one of them had a weapon. “They did feel that they had to protect themselves and that’s where the gunshots came into play.”
During the news conference at the jail, Morton declined to comment on whether the people who broke into the apartment were armed.
The victims of the home invasion said they did not know the people who broke into their residence, according to Burgess.
The shooting victims were initially taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. One of them, a male, was brought there in a car driven by a woman. Shortly afterward, one of the shooting victims was transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center under police escort, Bangor police Sgt. Garry Higgins said.
The woman driver and two friends, a man and a woman, stood in front of St. Joseph Hospital and were interviewed by Maine State Police. The man could be heard saying, “We’re sitting here and he could be dying.”
The woman’s vehicle, a blue Honda Accord, was parked in the hospital’s back parking lot and had what appeared to be two bullet holes just below the back license plate.
“It’s going to be awhile. They’ve got my car and everything,” the woman could be heard saying while speaking on a cellphone.
“It’s his blood that is all across the car,” she later told investigators.
Police in Hermon also went across the street to 1834 Outer Hammond St. to deal with a reported burglary. Burgess said it was not clear whether that burglary was related to the home invasion.
Higgins and Bangor police Officer Dan Sanborn were at St. Joseph Hospital to assist state police with the investigation.
Thursday’s home invasion in Hermon is the latest in a series that authorities in Maine — including Penobsot County — have dealt with in recent months.
In some of the cases, homeowners used firearms as a means of self-defense, Morton noted, adding that the most recent such incident occurred in Eddington.
The incident he was referring to happened in early January, when a local transient originally from Florida broke into a home on Riverside Drive and was shot in the foot by the homeowner. The intruder was arrested on a charge of felony burglary.
The transient, who was hiding upstairs, was discovered after the wife returned from grocery shopping and went to get her husband to help bring them in. The homeowner, who has a concealed weapons permit, used a 9 mm handgun to shoot the intruder.
“We can’t attribute them to anything in particular,” he said. “Unfortunately, it’s a sign of the times.”
State law allows the use of deadly force in defense of one’s home or property in certain circumstances, including the belief that one’s life or that of another is in danger.
“A person has the right to protect themselves but you have to be able to articulate why you feel [threatened],” Morton noted during Thursday’s news conference. “Just simply to say someone was there isn’t always enough [to justify the use of force]. You have to be able to say why you know you were threatened.”
When it comes to deciding whether to use deadly force, there are few clear-cut answers, he noted.
“We can’t think within the mind of a person who is concerned about defending themselves,” he said. “Law enforcement uses that every day in our jobs.
“It could be as simple as the size of a person, [as in] they’re a much larger person than I,” he said. “They may have a club. They may have a bat they may be acting psychotic. Those are things that a person could use to make the decision about what type of force they think is necessary.”
Morton also was asked whether it matters if the intruder or attacker is armed.
“Not necessarily,” he said. “We can’t think with the mind of a person who is concerned about defending themselves. There are a lot of things that play into those factors. Law enforcement does that every day. That’s what’s in our use of force continuum.
“But those are the same parameters that a citizen can used to decide what necessary force is needed to protect themselves and their family,” he said.
Dellairo was arrested last month, after a landlord in the process of evicting him asked Bangor police to accompany him while he walked through the apartment.
During that walk through, police found Dellairo with diverted Suboxone strips and arrested him on a charge of felony unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and for violating his bail conditions. Suboxone is used to treat opioid addiction. Had he been convicted of the felony drug charge, he would have faced up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the felony drug charge and a fine of up to $20,000.
Dellairo also has several convictions on his record, according to the Bangor Daily News archives. He was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, driving to endanger and criminal mischief in separate 2011 incidents. He was convicted in October 2010 of assault, violating his conditions of release and burglary.
In May of 2006, he and his then-girlfriend, Danielle Bellefleur, were indicted on one count each of burglary by Penobscot County grand jury.
The indictments stemmed from the Brewer Police Department’s March 2006 search of a room at a Holyoke Street boarding house that Dellairo and Bellefleur were living in. The search, and a subsequent search of their car, reportedly led to the discovery of a stolen credit card and thousands of dollars worth of stolen property, including electronics.
In August 2010, McIntyre, whose address was listed as Corinth, was fined $400 for assault, according to the archives.

You should have just waited..
Perhaps…but it spawned me to turn my scanner app on my phone on. A lot of action and chatter.
Did you hear where it is?
It’s in Maine
Agreed
Saw the policia drive by enroute !
As did I. Seven sheriffs cars and one state police.
DURAN APARTMENTS
WABI said it was on Hammond Street…is that where Northern Maine Junction used to be?
It’s where it is. These apartments are roughly 300 feet from the train tracks.
Not surprised
There is enough law enforcement here to take on the BRADY GANG !
Are Bonny and Clyde loose again?
How can the BDN post a photo, but not give a location as it did at Feb. 16, 2012, at 9:58 a.m. ?
It is insulting to journalism and the readers.
Not a story yet….
WABI web site has it as a home invasion.
So, if I am to believe the WABI story, one of the persons who was involved in the home invasion is standing in the picture above outside the hosptial? As in, the women who drove the people to the hospital and is heard talking on the phone in regards to her car being taken?
The three people they are talking about are probably the three people who invaded a home in Hermon, resulting in at least one getting shot. It’ll be a while, alright. They can pick them up at the county jail. Idiots.
If they were breaking into the home…no sympathy for them getting shot! They shouldn’t have broken into the home. They deserve what they got.
I like the Dr Seuss style of your post, these people ire me the most. If you don’t like to get shot, don’t commit crime, Do not! Sam I am.
I agree I have no sympathy for them but the people who live in those apartments are just as bad like I said before I would sit there and see both apartments dealing drugs…losers all of them
“They deserve what they got.”
No they didn’t, they deserved one to the chest and one to the head.
Love your poetic style.
Unfortunately, when the lawyers get involved, the invaders will be granted disability…
This is why I moved bob Duran let’s anyone in without obviously doing background checks considering I could look out my window and she drug deals happening
Ha…and the wife is Superintendent of Schools in Hermon. What an oxymoron!?
Not uncommon, i do background checks on all new tenants. I have a new clause in my contracts, you get arrested for anything while a tenant, good bye you go
People that invade homes should not assume the home owners won’t have big guns and be happy to shoot them dead legally !!!
Yup. My husband goes out of town once in a while and if anyone broke into my house the last thing they would ever see is me aiming my 9mm at them.
I have a sign outside my door that says, “Can you run 850 feet per second, if not, your head better be bulletproof.”
Where’d you get it? I want one!! lol
I made it myself. Try here…
http://www.wildpacificcharters.com/krazy/product_info.php?products_id=302
A friend of mine has a sign outside his door that I also like. It depicts a view of looking down the barrel of a revolver, and the caption reads “There’s Nothing In This House Worth Dying For.”
I also like the one that reads, “Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again.” :-)
Nope. No drug problem in Bangor. Radio is reporting that there were 3 involved in the home invasion and 2 in the home. All in thair 20’s. When I was in my 20’s I was either A) in the Military. B) In a College Classroom or C) At work. Apparently none of those things appeal to the local youth anymore.
Yes, these three people clearly represent all local youth. In my day there was no crime.
Did hardday say ALL? Why are you twisting what he said? I do not see him saying “all”.
“In my day there was no crime.” Exactly when was that?
Let me get this straight – you’re including the people whose apartment was invaded in your sweeping disapproval because they had the gall to be at home? You must be a ton of fun at parties.
I was assuming he meant the ones doing the robbing, but I guess I can see your point.
When I was in my early 20’s (I’m 32) I also went to college full time and worked 25-30 hours per week. But I worked odd hours, and had class 3 days a week…so yep, I was home sometimes during the week all day.
Your handle is awesome… but I have to ask… than what? a breadbox?
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that there was a reason they broke into that particular apartment. Just a hunch, but I’m thinking they all knew each other.
And yeah, I am fun at parties. I always keep a fully stocked bar. No BYOB at my place.
alcohol is a drug
Aint it, though.
and a damn good one.
and a legal one which we can buy at the store
Alcohol is legal, and it’s just as deadly as a bullet .
So, when someone breaks into YOUR house. Why don’t you just hand them a beer? Problem solved.
If I drank- I’m smashed them over the head with one -but yet – my 357 mag would work better and the bullet is cheaper than a beer :)
The article says that the people who were being “robbed” didn’t know the “robbers”
And we all know people always tell the truth. I saw photos of shell casings in the driveway, and the article suggests bullet holes in the back of the car. Sounds to me like there is more to the story.
I definitely agree with where you’re going with this; but my family was robbed and we didn’t know the perps, we were at work when it happened. There are so many random robberies nowadays that they might not have known the criminals. But the question of why they were home that time of day does leave ya wondering;)
This is no lie….last year some time I read about an home invasion. The man came down through the sky light in the kitchen. He landed on the kitchen island where the family had left a knife cooking dinner probably. The invaded cut himself on the knife and ended up suing the family and won. Seven thousand dollars the family had to pay the intruder. I would have paid him in pennies….I still shake my head to that one.
that simply can’t be true. No legal duty is owed to someone in that situation nor is there any negligence in leaving the knife on the island. It is negligence that creates liability, not home ownership. If you still believe it is, find some verifiable report.
I believe I saw that movie too
That was in the movie “Liar “Liar”.
No Lie…..lol
Another tort tale.
The real story is this:
Bodine v. Enterprise High School (1987) California teenager sneaks onto high school roof to steal floodlight. Falls though tarred over skylight and falls to gym floor below resulting in quadrapalegia. School settles suit for $6,000, in part because similar incident a few months before alerted scholl district about hard to discern skylights.
a school can be regarded as an “attractive nuisance” to the little buggers who don’t know about boo boo’s received from falls through skylights.
Haha, I was going to point that out, too Mainelady.
I’ve heard the same story from multiple places, but I think what it really came from is a number of cases where a criminal sues a homeowner for injuries they got. But you can sue someone for just about anything, whether or not they win or it just gets thrown out (which likely happens) is up to the system.
Exactly. And, sadly, the person bringing the lawsuit is counting on the insurance company settling to avoid the higher cost of going to court. I think the insurance companies should be permitted to turn around and sue the person who sued them, for the legal costs of defending themselves against frivolous lawsuits – provided the plaintiff [criminal] loses the case in court.
don’t know where you heard that or read it but that has to be TRULY FALSE nowhere can someone break into your house cut themselves then turn around and sue you….now if you shoot someone and they don’t die unfortunately people have prevailed in lawsuits of these circumstances perfect example law enforcement that is why they are trained to kill and not wound is because of financial liability simply put your shot by law enforcement and live you can sue and in most instances win
Brian, with respect to your comment about law enforcement, you could not be any more wrong. Law enforcement personnel are NOT taught to “shoot-to-kill”, they are taught to shoot for center mass. Center mass depends on how much of the aggressor is visible (i.e. only one side, vs. the entire body). To suggest that the potential financial losses due to lawsuits are even a minute consideration in such a situation is completely and utterly ridiculous. Please get your facts straight before posting (and spreading) such harmful statements.
This story stems from a 1984 California court case Bodine v Enterprise High School. Some kid and his buddies were trying to steal floodlights from the top of the gym when one of them (Ricky Bodine) fell through a skylight that was painted gray to match the gym ceiling. He dropped about 30 feet to the gym floor and ended up paralyzed. He sued the school system for $8 million and ended up settling for $260,000.
Brian, here’s what happened to me and this 100% true. In 1992 someone broke into my basement, stole my tools and whatever else they could find, the police found him and arrested him. A few days later I got a letter from his attorney saying that I was being sued because he strained his ankle in my basement. My insurance company ended up paying his medical bills as well as his loss of work and pain and suffering. And I never did get any of my stuff back, he had already sold it. This was one of my own tenants who did’t have any right to be in the basement at all. He kicked in the basement door to get access. Oh and by the way, he got a $200.00 fine and was back out again.
This is NOT a court case (like so many of the other cases mentioned) Insurance companies are likely to “settle out of court) because it costs them more to go to court, even if they win, because they can not collect “court costs” from these losers.
Don’t mistake “settlement” for “ruling.”
I would have paid him in Remington 12ga. home intruder lead….
Anyone notice this military/college guy cant spell their and capitalizes words that dont need to be. And I didnt graduate 7th grade hahaha
just a troll drive by. peace out
make sure you get your punctuation correct before commenting on someone elses. Can’t not cant. It is a contraction.
you forgot dont. and i didnt even want to waste the time capitalizing my sentences but your the College Class edumacated one and im actually a content copy writer with post college level writing skills that only gradumated the 7th grade ha… great thing is i dont have to follow the rules of inglais in these wasted breath forums. but if your gonna say you were in college and are obviously a much better person than all of the youth today than im (not I’m) gonna say something.
just another troll drive by
Same here, I also had plenty of honest fun to do in my off time ;-) This is the crap life style a society with no expectations breeds.
You really shouldnt be so down on todays Youth. They have more challenges and temptations than we ever dreamed of as kids. I suppose the same could be said from the perspective of our parents. Life continues to become more and more complicated. But the main point I wanted to make is that there ALOT more good kids out there than there are bad. We only hear mostly about the bad because well, that sells newspapers. Dont sell our kids short because of a few bad apples.
For the millionth time, start to carry a handgun people. You anti gun folks will probably become very pro gun before it’s over and I am sad to say that. Just buy a handgun, get the CFP, and carry it if you really want a fighting chance at protecting you or your loved ones. There is some real crime in this area, it’s just that the local smut over nothing usualy takes priority.
BDN, will you please keep informing us of news we need to know, isn’t that your motto? “The Bangor Daily News, it’s what you need to know”. Great slogan for a great product on the fence, trust me, you are on the fence”. Don’t let it go to “The Bangor Daily News, it’s local garbage you don’t need to know”. You all are better than that, always were anyway. You know who you are, how about instilling some integrity again, from the top.
Lastly, sad story but bigger picture, more of it is coming folks. Be very careful when you hear your elected officials doing PD surveys, consultant reviews and studies and cutting back on PD salaries. At that point, you had better be armed and ready to use it. Call your selectmen or city manager and inform them you support beefing up the streets with officers until this crime level flattens out. For goodness sake, we have people signing up to protect us, let’s use them. If we need to cut, let’s cut something that makes more sense than a police officer.
I refuse to beg te state for a permit to excercise my fundamental rights – including carrying a gun!
The town is a little safer now. Now the question is will the body poison the soil. Where’s the EPA when you need ’em…
When I was in my 20’s, these kids worked and stayed busy. Now that it is illegal for anyone under 18 to work, they find other things to do, some illegal.
Read the article , the “kid” that died was 30 !
It’s not illegal for all minors to work, there are just some restrictions…
And
“in my day” we did not feel the need to reach out across the country in order
to import troubled youth into the Bangor area.
Of course, all of those Methadone clinics are not helping.
Amazing she was right there to take the “victim”/robbery suspect straight to the hospital. Sounds like she was a getaway driver. No way they would let you go talk to another suspect. Doesn’t sound like they have a clue as to the amount of trouble they’re in.
“Two shooting victims” I have hard time calling them victims.
Exactly what I was thinking!
People need to start thinking twice before breaking into someone elses home. You never know what is going to be waiting for you on the other side.
Me and my friend Mr Mossberg
Hey ask your Mr. Mossberg if he knows my Mr. Mossberg. Maybe they’re related.
I have Mr. Mossberg’s cousin, Mr. Remington. :-)
“we’re sitting here and he could be dying”??? Sure, you’re probably right. They should let you go hold his hand and be in the room causing a scene because that will help to save his life.
The man could be heard saying, “We’re sitting here and he could be dying.”
Next time, don’t bust into someone’s house and I’d be a little more concerned…
Could be dying? Lucky they are not wearing toe tags!
“Could be”? Should read “Should” be dead. Not enough gun control in that apt. (Steady hand).
Must have been poor shots.A 12ga. 00 buck would have done the trick.
Home invasion? THEY GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED!
No, not all of them got what they deserved, They all should have been shot dead on the spot.
The sad news in all this is if Obama and the liberals (notice no capital letter L)have thier way, the homeowners would not have been able to defend themselves and their belongings. Good news is the 2nd amendment still prevails and I am glad for these folks.
Feel free to list any pending legislation restricting second amendment rights to prove your point.
Operation fast and furious was intended to be the precurser to that very legislation. You see, Obama and the justice department had intended to use this program to put guns in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels. They have been trying for years to try to link the gun crime in Mexico to the availability of guns in the US, but because their was no connection, they had to create one. Unfortunately they botched it, and the whole plan backfired on them. Now instead of having an argument to limit the second amendment, they are too busy destroying the evidence and concocting ways to decieve investigators.
I really think you pulled that one out of your…
From what I understand that post is pretty accurate. They might have gotten away with it if a DEA agent hadn’t been killed , the perp was carrying a US government supplied firearm.
I thought the reason Holder and his henchmen got caught was the two whistleblowers.
I think you ought to actually look into it. There is a reason Holder has been repeatedly giving false testimony.
Do you even watch the news?
Not your station.
You must watch FAUX News…..
Excuse me? I block that station. That is NOT news.
Considering the fact that I watch all stations (and yes I notice that the ones you probably watch choose not to report some things) and that I also research what I see on the internet, I’m willing to bet that I am much better informed than you are with your “blocking” information method of news.
Did you also block out the education that you didn’t want to hear in school?
Is that a trick question? You do realise anything you see on television which could possibly be considered ‘news’ is known throughout the free-thinking world as ‘mainstream media’, don’t you?
“Watching the news” merely ensures you receive the vague, watered-down kool-aid the establishment wants you to savor.
… intelligent brain.
A great many of us have reached the same conclusion, including the part about Holder having “amnesia” over what he saw and what he said.
Hmmm… are you referring to the rectal computer?
Oh such denial by the liberal left wingers. I just wish I could write this good.
Fast and Furious was part of the larger $80 million BATFE Project Gunrunner, touted as a Justice Department answer to Mexican bloodletting. However, Project Gunrunner was the subject of two scathing Justice Department Office of Inspector General (OIG) reports that concluded the project was a waste of taxpayer funds and manpower, and that it had produced no big takedowns of real cartel criminals. Fast and Furious was launched to show that BATFE`s tracing could, after all, lead to big-time busts in Mexico.
But there were a couple of problems. The Mexican authorities were never in on it, and the U.S. Justice Department had little presence across the border.
According to reports, thousands of firearms were “walked” across the border. Keeping the operation secret from Mexican authorities guaranteed the “walked” guns would be lost until they turned up at scenes of murderous carnage.
The idea was that BATFE could then trace the guns back to the border state licensed retailers, where BATFE had “monitored” illegal gun sales in the first place, thus fulfilling the basis for the Obama administration`s three-year big-lie campaign that gun stores were the source of 90 percent of guns used by the massive criminal network known as the Mexican cartels.
Operation Fast and Furious was the follow-up to Operation Wide Receiver which ran from early 2006 to late 2007, which if you don’t recall, was under Bush’s watch. There was an additional smaller probe also in 2007 which ATF ran. So if your point is that Operation Fast and Furious was a precurser to restricting second amendment rights, are you also saying that Operation Wide Receiver was run for the same purpose? Probably not, because then you would have to accuse Bush of attempting to restrict second amendment rights. I am not arguing the wisdom, or lack thereof, of these operations. I am saying that it is ludicrous to link them to second amendment rights.
How many US agents died with firearms traced to operation wide receiver? And how many of the firearms used in Wide receiver are currently unaccounted for?
Actually Operation Wide Receiver was done in cooperation with the Mexican gov’t, Fast and Furious wasnt. They actually traced the guns to the drug dealers in Mexico in WR, with FF once they hit he Mexico border they stopped watching them. With WR they tried to get all of them back, with FF they just waited for them to show up at crime sences. Then with FF they tried to blame the dealers that were working with the ATF/FBI for illegally selling the guns – when they were TOLD TO DO SO by the FBI!!
Heck, the dealers were calling BATFE and telling them about the straw purchase attempts. The BATFE then instructed the dealers to let the sales proceed.
You can’t even compare the two.
One was done with the support and cooperation of the mexican government which allowed the weapons to actually be traced, and the second was done with no plan what so ever of following the guns once they crossed the border.
The fact that they don’t hold up to comparison is why this scandal is going to be a bad one for Obama.
Exactly…how they can say Obama manufactured this to restrict the 2nd amendment is idiocy.
Ok, then would you call your irrational denial, true enlightenment?
Under Wide Receiver, the firearms were rigged with tracking devices so as to be able to actually track the guns and document the underground routes . This concept, tracking the guns, evidently eluded Mr. holder’s minions. They didn’t need to track the guns because they WANTED them to show up in crime scenes.
No, Fast and Furious was part of the larger $80 million BATFE Project Gunrunner.
Operation Gunrunner was funded by the 2009 Stimulus Package so I think that puts it on Obami’s watch.
Nice try to blame Bush though!
I wasn’t blaming Bush for anything. I said that Wide Receiver operated under Bush in 2006 and 2007. Gunrunner actually started in 2005. Both WR and GR were similar to Fast and Furious. You can make whatever arguments you want about the success or failure of each but both Bush and Obama had similar operations. That was my point.
Sorry but I proved GR was concieved and executed in 2009. That’s exactly why Holder is so bent on hiding the 8000 documents. He’s just lying to cover his butt as well as his Boss’s.
Insert tinfoil hat…..
Like pretty much all conspiracy theorists, you’re in violation of Hanlon’s razor here: “Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.”

These are just some currently pending in just one state so you see OUR 2nd Ammendment is constantly under fire (No pun intended). There are a lot more at the Federal level. So here’s three, read these then I’ll send you some more.
I have an idea for a new bumper sticker “When guns are outlawed , I will become an outlaw” !
It’s already out, a friend of mine has one. :-)
Say, I wonder where “TrueNative” is now? Remember them calling me “paranoid” while commenting on the article, “Bill would loosen gun restrictions on state employees” back in January? I wonder if they realize it’s not paranoia when it’s actually happening! lol
That is only because it is an election year, but watch out if Obama is re-elected …………….. he will push for the UN’s Small Arms Treaty.
And you base this prediction on what exactly?
So, from your statement, we can assume that President Obama has shared his national agenda with you? Would you care to provide some actual evidence of this fact? And by evidence, I mean tangible facts, not simply regurgitating something you heard Limbaugh or Hannity ranting about…..
http://dailycaller.com/2011/12/12/the-obama-administration-is-planning-a-second-term-attack-on-gun-rights/
Well, a very interesting read, but not very convincing. It is nothing but hyperbole, conjecture and opinion. Hardly evidence of anything except one NRA members paranoid opinion. Show me something that actually proves the President has stated his intention to take away gun rights in his second term. Let me save you the trouble, you can’t.
This isn’t the link that I wanted, from the WSJ, but basically this is the same information;
http://dailycaller.com/2011/12/12/the-obama-administration-is-planning-a-second-term-attack-on-gun-rights/
Obama LOVES the U.N. Global Small Arms Treaty. First of all, it hasn’t been actually reduced to writing yet, so there is no “smoking gun” to trip him up. He can sell it to Congress, then work to implement it. What a surprise it will turn out to be, when we realize that it will be necessary to restrict OUR Second Amendment rights, in order to fully control guns worldwide. He’ll be able to shrug and deny responsibility for selling the nation down the river. “Just one of those things”, you know. The intent of the Small Arms Treaty is to forever eliminate civilian possession of firearms. Only governments will be allowed to own arms. Just trust in the government… Maybe it is just me, but that sounds like a prescription for disaster.
People have a right to defend themselves. This has zero, zip, nada to do with Obama, who has never advocated taking legal firearms from homeowners. To suggest otherwise is just plain paranoid.
Seriously? You believe that? I think you need to actually do a little research on Obama and his take on the second amendment.
Why don’t YOU post some examples. Or one….
Here’s an opinion piece, take it how you will. If you can refute anything in this article, please indicate specifically.
It is easy for the Second Amendment community to be lulled into a false sense of security about Barack Obama.
He has viciously attacked Second Amendment rights, but he has done so quietly, behind-the-scenes, and by regulation and BATFE abuses.
So does it really matter whether he is reelected a year from next month?
The answer is “yes.” And there are a couple of paramount reasons.
The first is that Obama, in order to avoid a guaranteed defeat in 2012, has thus far kept his powder dry on gun-related legislation (but not anti-gun regulations and rhetoric). Thus, following the Tucson shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, he gave one speech, but largely bit his lip and retreated into his den.
But when reelection is no longer a consideration, gun licensing, gun bans, and criminalization of gun ownership will once again come to the fore.
These proposals will be implemented by more draconian regulations (which Congress will no longer have the votes to defund), and they will be tacked onto must-pass legislative vehicles.
Sadly, Republican leaders Mitch McConnell and John Boehner have shown no stomach for taking the blame for shutting down the government in order to protect Second Amendment rights. Of course, one needs to understand that “shutting down the government” really means scaling back its operations to about 60% of full capacity, which is the amount that comes in from taxes every month.
But there is another equally important reason why Obama’s reelection could be the death of the Second Amendment as we know it: the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court is currently viewed as consisting of four conservatives (Scalia, Roberts, Thomas, and Alita), four raving liberals (Ginsburg, Sotomayor, Kagan, and Breyer), and one sort-of-conservative swing vote (Kennedy).
Of the conservatives, Kennedy and Scalia were born in 1936, meaning that they turn 75 this year. And Thomas turns 63.
There is a significant chance that one of these three vacancies will come open in the next five years. And, if the vacancy is filled by Obama, that will create a 5-man majority of anti-gun liberals on the Supreme Court.
The first thing that means is that the Heller case — recognizing that the Second Amendment is an individual right — will be reversed. In fact, after stating under oath before the Senate that she had no opinion on the scope of the Second Amendment, Sotomayor wasted no time opining (in a decision) that she believed Heller was bad law.
Liberals, by and large, don’t defer to stare decisis — a judicial doctrine which protects already-decided issues, even if you don’t like them. And it would be a mistake to assume that the Supreme Court wouldn’t rapidly declare the Second Amendment to apply only to militias.
Ditto, the McDonald case, recognizing that the Second Amendment is applicable to the states.
Finally, the Supreme Court is largely expected to overturn, by a 5-4 margin, ObamaCare’s mandate that virtually every person in America be required to purchase politically correct, gold-plated, Obama-mandated health insurance, at a cost of $5,000-$25,000 per person or family. If Obama appoints another Supreme Court justice, such a decision could very easily be reversed, thus reinstating ObamaCare’s takeover of decisions concerning your family’s health.
When Heller was handed down, I pointed out that the courts were no panacea to legislative vigilance. And, within the past week, a key federal court refused to use Heller to overturn the District of Columbia’s semi-automatic ban. (Interestingly, the “pro-gun” House could repeal the ban with one sentence in its upcoming “continuing resolution.”)
But the symbolic and moral impact of an illegitimate Supreme Court trying, corruptly, to define the Second Amendment out of existence cannot be overstated.
So think about it … because elections do have consequences. And we will have to live with the results of the upcoming election (for better or worse) for a long time.
That’s why GOA is going to make Barack Obama’s life miserable, until his sordid administration comes to a sorry end in January 2013. And we’re going to hound “Dirty Harry” Reid until he is driven out of his Majority Leader’s office. And we’re going to exorcise Nancy Pelosi, as we force gun votes which drive her corrupt gaggle of cronies even further into the minority. But we need your help. We need you to stand with Gun Owners of America. Go to http://gunowners.org/store/new-membership and sign up with the only gun organization whose PAC has been credited with helping to defeat scores of congressional Blue Dog Democrats in 2010.
Well said.
“And it would be a mistake to assume that the Supreme Court wouldn’t rapidly declare the Second Amendment to apply only to militias.” Right. Because that is what it ACTUALLY SAYS in the Constitution. “Well regulated militia” actually. Is it seriously your contention that the founding fathers would have no problem with unregulated proliferation of modern day automatic weapons?
Here is a video explaining Obama’s hypocrisy on his claim that he ‘supports second amendment rights’.
http://youtu.be/z745MfGynYY
Good one. “Remember in November”…
Are YOU the same guy that sang “I liked to spit some Beach nut in that dudes eye, shoot him with my old 45, and a country boy can survive”? No you cant be, Hank would never defend Obama
Honestly, the facts are that we’ve actually had more gun rights added since the start of his administration. All of this cloke and dagger stuff you guys come up with is fantasy. If we were arming mexican cartels (which I don’t doubt) then we were probably trying to get them to kill themselves off or defend the border from being crossed. It’s not like it’s the first time we’ve armed foreign bodies with good intentions gone bad. But seriously, until there’s actual legislation somewhere that affects your 2nd ammendment rights, spend more time paying attention to the ones that we ACTUALLY taken away via the Patriot Act and Obama’s recent signing authorizing indefinite detention of american citizens suspected of “terror.” Those are actually issues base in reality!
“It’s not like it’s the first time we’ve armed foreign bodies with good intentions gone bad.”
Are you serious? If they had good intentions, why are they stone walling? There was no plan in place to track those guns. The intent was for them to be in the hands of the drug cartels and then be retrived from crime scenes. After that, the plan was to simply trace them back to the US and use it as an argument to clamp down on gun sales. Only problem was, an agent was killed, and someone spilled the beans on the operation. You believe what you want to believe. I’ll believe what is blatently obvious.
You’ve nailed it. The whole premise and intent of Operation Fast & Furious was to “justify” the administration’s position AGAINST the 2nd Amendment. They wanted those guns to turn up on crime scenes, so they could then point to them as reasons why we “need” more gun control. How callous. How can anybody believe that these people have our best interests at heart?
No Jim, You nailed it perfectly.
Uhh…that would be JR!
Hey Hank, when you get bored, Google the words Obama second amendment, then try to defend what you just said Einstein.
The NRA may have you believing this, but take a poll. I’m a democrat with a concealed weapons permit and a gun. I would still have my permit and gun even if the NRA never existed. I’m not an NRA supporter obviously.
No you wouldn’t have your firearm or CCW because we would be like Great Britan, Austrailia or Japan if Obama, Boxer, Shumer and herds of your liberals had their way.
And by “news” you mean BS that you made up, right?
News flash— the entire Constitution and Bill of Rights has been null and void since 1930 when this country went bankrupt. It is THE big secret that all judges and lawyers swear to uphold…
Bang, Bang, two more sumbags…needed to aim higher only thing wrong there..Fn low life scumbags got a taste of what more people should do…
They should have aimed higher , you know that big dumb melon resting on there shoulders? should have been riding to the morgue not driving to the hospital. I know what im gonna be shopping for with my tax return. ;)
Again, like the last home invasion. Too bad the owners are such bad shots.
The wild wild west moves east to Maine….
not really, you should know that almost everyone in Maine has a firearm, or 2 or 3….
You are absolutely correct, but also most Mainers dont use guns like the wild wild west. Maybe a few of our cops and game wardens do, but?
Wonder who is paying those hospital bills? you and I. Do these morons just sit around smoking cigarettes, drinking and doing pills and wait until everyone is asleep and then “make their move?” My God, the future is looking bleak for the 20ish crowd. Clamp down on prescription drugs. They must have scoped the area out and saw someone with a walker or cane! If those idiots are put out on low bond, I’ll be hugely disappointed.
Im sure they are able to pay thier own medical bills and are not on any type of tax payer supported programs. NOT!
Ha ha ha ha
who cares who pays their bills? We will obviously always have folks that need our help one way or another. This has nothing to do with the story. Oh on second thought………………..should we just shoot everyone unemployed because that would mean a lot of hard working, well educated people these days!!!!!!!!!!
I was responding to another poster. I care about who is paying these peoples hospital bills. I care that they may end up getting tax payer assistance even though they perpetrated illegal acts. Your statement about shooting the unemployed does not make any sense. Not all unemployed people are robbers or burglars are they? Im educated and have been unemployed before. During my unemployment you did not have to contribute one cent to any of my medical expenses. If you want to contribute towards the medical expenses of people who got shot while trying to steal from people then be my guest. I dont want to.
Lets just hope the gunshot wound does not lead to a disability. Then we will be housing feeding, and providing the prescription oxy’s to them for life.
I care about who is paying the bills because it is ME and YOU. Think of all the people who get shot every single day in the inner cities. 99% gangbangers and assorted scum, but still “citizens”. They get hauled to the hospitals in a never ending stream, where each receives between $20,000 and $50,000 – sometimes more – of the best medical care. Of course, they can’t actually PAY, but that’s okay, because we are there to pick up the tab. It really would probably be cheaper to build more prisons and then *gasp* actually keep the bad guys locked up in them.
You and I will pay one way or the other. Someone suggested that it was wrong of me to openly question who would pick up the tab for them getting shot while trying to rob people.
Shots to the legs? Sounds like the victim anticipated the recoil. Great video by the way, very informative.
The only down side I can see is they were shot in the legs instead of in the head. Then no one would have to deal with them again. I am armed and can be dangerous if you attempt to break into my house. Just saying…I am glad the homeowners were able to protect themselves
The shooter should have gone for the center of mass on his targets and kept on shooting until they were down for good, not only for defense but to make sure that the home invaders could not testify against him.
Why did you shoot the intruder 6 times?
Because I didn’t feel I needed to reload.
because I ran out of bullets lol
Agreed on center mass. I have a huge issue with “to make sure that the home invaders could not testify against him. ” You shoot to end the threat and nothing else. To me to keeping shooting until the home invader can’t testify is murder. SHOOT TO STOP THREAT once the threat stops so should the shooting.
Fair enough.
Then the object should be to shoot at the center of mass with enough rounds to make sure beyond any reasonable doubt that the home invaders can pose no further threat, and the homeowner should have a weapon with real stopping power, like a .45.
In the unfortunate event that stopping the threat results in the death of the home invaders, there will be only one version of what happened and why the homeowner/shooter had to use lethal force, because the home invaders obviously won’t be able to fabricate a story to contradict the homeowner/shooter.
How’s that?
We’re using the proper language but are saying the same thing. Maybe I am reading your message wrong. “to make sure beyond any reasonable doubt that the home invaders can pose no further threat” is a very broad statement. I do agree that a person should shoot center mass with as many rounds needed to stop the threat with a stopping caliber or gauge.
So to clear up any possible mis-communication I’ll give you an example or two.
Home invader has a bat and poses a threat. You fire multiple rounds and the home invader falls to the floor, screaming in pain. Do you continue to fire or do you hold him at gun point and call police.
Home invader has a bat and poses a threat. You fire multiple round and miss. The home invader drops the bat and screams “don’t shoot, I give up”. Do you continue to fire or do you hold him at gun point and call police.
I know those examples are broad and only two out of thousands of examples that could happen but I believe it would clear up any mis-communication.
I’ll take that one: in both examples, you must stop shooting because the threat of imminent grave bodily harm to you has ceased.
I say shoot to inflict suffering, its a pain that remains in there mind, killing a criminal is being too kind and inflicts no suffering , especially if the death occurs instantly. Shot to the groing or upper leg usually makes them retreat if they can move at all ! A shot to the groing accomplishes two things , it stops the attacker and keeps him from creating more scum to pass on the bad character flaws !
100 point for each for the correct answers
First hypothetical: If I think there’s a possibility that he’ll get up and come after me, despite his screaming and pain, I might keep shooting. I’m sure I’d be keyed up and thinking that since he was armed with a bat, he was dangerous and willing to use it. Second hypothetical: same answer, except he hasn’t gone down and I might not take him at his word. In any situation, it would depend on my belief that the threat had ceased, or not. I should add that if I were ever confronted with a home invader and I believed he was armed or dangerous, or both, and I had a weapon and the presence of mind to use it, I would be keyed up and scared and shooting rapid continuous fire. It would be at close quarters in my house with a .45 and all I’d be thinking about would be putting the guy down. So, if I can start shooting before he gets to me, it’s very unlikely he’ll ever get up.
Not to mention – that is how the law works. We don’t shoot to kill; we shoot to stop the threat. AND, once they start running away, you must stop shooting, because “imminent threat” has ceased. Play it any other way, and YOU end up under the gun of the legal system.
As long as he or she is still moving I consider them to still be a threat.
Yes I agree ? but do you really want to deal with having to kill someone It can not be something enjoyable . I bet many sleepless nights either way. One because you had to kill some they other would be because they might come back if you did not kill them.
Excuse me?
Um?
More and more the need arises for “We the People” to protect ourselves. If “Everyone” exercised their “Constitutional Right” The Police would be reduced to writing traffic tickets…….Nice!!
If these people were indeed breaking in, as it appear they were then I say this to the resident of the apartment- BRAVO!!!!!!
About time. We have had enough!!!
Maybe if more home invaders got shot there’d be fewer of them. Good for the homeowner!
Given Maine’s and Vermont’s relatively liberal views on most things, it’s interesting that both state’s enjoy the highest gun ownership rates in the country.
Given the high probability of getting shot in a “normal” home invasion, I highly doubt the perps “didn’t know the owner”, nor that the owner had been prohibited from owning a gun as a result of a prior conviction.
Just thinkin…
3 words for the homeowner or any homeowner with a gun if this happens again – Center of Mass
Most people do not want to have to deal with having to kill someone even if it is for the right reason.
The thing to keep uppermost in your mind is: if home invaders get past you, they can then do as they like with your family. Center. Of. Mass.
I would not want to have to kill someone but to protest my family You have to do what you have to do.
How about “Shoot twice and check your kills”
Good thing the resident was prepared. An empty gun is about as useless as dull jackknife.
Right in broad daylight, im thinking the perps new the victims and new that they had what they wanted !
I live 250 feet from where those shootings took place. They should thank God they didn’t choose my place. They would be at the Coroners not the hospital. Real gun control is being able to hit your target.
thats what i’m talking about!
They did hit their target! That’s why they are in the hospital.
They did not, 2 are still alive..
Looks like one of them IS at the coroners!
Yep. They had to put a chair next to the gurney for rigor mortis to set in.
Sorry I had to change that comment .Someone dying Is not a joking matter even if he is a dirt bag. Like all the cheering when Binladen was killed . Yes they did what they had to do But it is not something to celebrate we mush have more respect for the people doing what needs to be done and some understanding what it must be like to deal with having killed a person no matter what a dirt bag a person is.
There will be more of this to come. These scumbags breaking into peoples houses better start realizing that gun sales are on the rise. People are getting sick and tired of working for a living and having these blood sucking scumbags out and about trying to take what don’t belong to them. Try it at my house and you’ll be sorry.
Sad part is it will be us taxpayers paying for their medical costs
who cares! That’s not the issue at hand
Yes it is. Bloodsucking scumbags
I love heart-warming stories such as this.
Does it sound like the homeowner may have shot at the car? shell casing in the driveway, bullet holes in trunk.
If so, this may not be as clear cut ‘self defense’.
Maybe, but I’d like to think a jury of their peers would find a verdict of “innocent” if the DA was stupid enough to waste more taxpayer money on an unnecessary trial 9if it ever went that far).
Would be bad to see the “suspects” being treated better than the victims.
If anyone breaks into my house they will be shot plain and simple!!….. break into my house when my kids are home and the cops will take you out in body bags!!!!!!….
Bags? What are you going to shoot them with, a howitzer? Please do tell where I can purchase one of these for myself. It might be a little nerve wracking for some. I would have it aimed right at the front door.
i wont stop till every clip in the house is emptied :p lol
EVERY home should have a gun for this exact reason and use it effectively when needed. In my opinion……….if you thought you would die breaking into a home, would you?
center mass people, not the leg :) I know, I know, under stress and all, I’m just lamenting over the cost of a trial and such…
(comment redacted)
A happy ending would have been: “All three intruders were transported to the morgue for autopsies.”
….
I’m pleased to hear that the good guys finally won one….
Murphy’s Law: If you break into someone’s home to steal, expect the owner to be home with a shotgun!!
justice
Glad it sounds like no one innocent was hurt!
Nobody is innocent when a home invasion is involved and rarely are these events random acts. Statistics overwhelmingly demonstrate that in over 90% of home invasions, both parties involved know each other.
Somebody got stiffed in a bad drug deal and they were looking to settle their differences.
Good going, apartment dweller / victim!
Duran Duran Apartments? The invaders must have been “Hungry Like the Wolf”.
non life threatening wounds…thats too bad. aim higher next time. maybe it will discourage the next group of idiots. and plus, it may prevent a lawsuit.
Even if someone is invading your home, you unfortunately have to be careful “defending” yourself. In this day and age, even the aggressor has rights (believe it or not). You can be defending youself in your terms, but the law may not agree. It’s ridiculous. If you break into my home, you’re going home in a body bag – but I may be charged because “the threat was not great enough to kill.” If you break into a home, the threat is there to harm me – I guess I will take the jail time, because you won’t be doing it again.
It doesn’t matter if the person invades your house with a pencil. If they barge into your home, they’re probably not there to deliver flowers. Shoot to kill. No questions asked.
give em a dose of lead poisoning
If a citizen is going to pull the trigger on an intruder it would be better for them if there was only one side to the story.
If you put down the invaders permanently, it’s less likely you’ll be charged with a crime, because the invaders won’t be around to tesify against you and contradict your version of what they did, how you were in fear for your life, and how you only used the gun as a last resort because they refused your demands to back off and leave, and you had no other means to defend yourself and your family.
if they cross the threshold of your home and you feel you are in danger, you have the right to defend yourself
Agree. Many people do not realize that the shooting incident is not the end of the matter – it is the BEGINNING of the matter, because now you have to justify the use of deadly force. If you study up on what the law says, you are doing yourself a huge favor. Remember, what you do in a few seconds will, in all probability, be picked apart and parsed by others over a period of weeks or months. It may very well cost you a small fortune to prevail. Here is a good place to start: http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/statutes/17-A/title17-Ach5sec0.html
I tell you what if someone breaks into my house when i am home they will not need an ambulance but a hurst instead guaranteed nothing but STRAIGHT UP SKUMBAGS!!!!!!!!!!!
Should have killed home invaders, maybe a little more time at the range………..
news just reported one dead
lets see what scumbag lawyers will represent these two pill heads
Well Im glad our tax dollars are going to be hard at work with these idiots medical bills. I’m glad that the residents shot them, just next time please aim for center mass. Less people, less stories.
without knowing the facts, the people who broke in are lucky to be alive. they would not be if they would have come to my house. what would have happened if the home owner wasn’t armed. We would likely be hearing about a murder. I’ll bet those dirtbags think twice before they try that again.
shoot the dog!
Sad thing is is that there is known drug sales in this apartment. Several reports were made to the landord who didnt care. Now look…if drug dealers werent living in these apartments none of this would have happened!
What is up with people shooting home invaders in the feet and legs. One thing to say, “Center Mass”.
For the Renter’s sake, I hope he shot these intruders while they were still in his home, posing a threat.
“The woman’s vehicle, a blue Honda Accord, was parked in the hospital’s back parking lot and had what appeared to be two bullet holes just below the back license plate.”
I truly hope the Renter didn’t run outside to shoot them……while they were retreating…
If you own a firearm, or are interested in owning a firearm, please read up on Maine Self-Defense Laws…..
Yep, that could indeed come back to bite the shooter on the butt. Can’t shoot retreating bad guys – even if they are running away with your irreplaceable coin collection. Can’t shoot ’em..
“I truly hope the Renter didn’t run outside to shoot them……while they were retreating…”
Say this— Then I heard him say to his buddy “I gotta get more bullets from the car so I can come back and shoot him”.
If someone invades my home, I use the Air Force rule of thumb…..AIM HIGH!!!
IMO, Any one breaking into a home (that doesn`t belong to them) deserves to be shot! Remember the case in Conneticut at the Doctor`s house? Those animals should have been shot as soon as they entered the home. No one should EVER try a home invasion at my home!!
I applaud the home owners for there act of defending their home! You watch, our judicial system will do everything to protect and fight for the criminals rights and not the victims, it is a joke! If someone broke into my home I would do the same thing!
Everybody has a right to defend themselves thats for sure.
I don’t want to kill anyone even if they break in. It would bring far too much trouble with the law and my conscience.
I think rubber bullets or rock salt in a shotgun or a stun gun would do the job amply and with decision.; and no blood on my hands to clean up.
Right…and give the bad guy the opportunity to sue you for what you did to him.
What is the chance of manslaughter being brought against the shooter? Let’s see how this plays out.
Rather be tried by twelve than carried by six.
Good luck with that!
That’s your choice, and if worse comes to worst you might not live long enough to even regret it. Rock salt or a stun gun just don’t have the stopping power that you need in a close quarters situation with home invaders. Best bet for self defense in your house is a .45, and training in how to use it. And then if you have to use it, make sure you put the other guy(s) down for good. Then they can’t give evidence against you or sue for disabling injuries, pain and suffering, etc. Sure, their survivors could always find some scalper lawyer to sue for wrongful death, but that’s got less damage exposure and is easier to defend than when the bad guy survives with bad injuries and testifies against you.
The homeowner did what he had to do. Just wished he had shot them in the head and done society a favor.
um I hate to tell you that once again your reporting is way off with the details. When someone dies it usually indicates a life threatening wound. Why don’t you learn to wait for the details before you try speculating them.
It has been reported that one of the home invaders has died.
Tragic.
No big loss
http://www.wabi.tv/news/27732/update-one-person-dead-after-home-invasion-shooting-in-hermon
Hope this is a lesson to people who are thinking of invading someones home. I think you will see that people that don’t already have guns are gonna start buying one. Things are just getting to crazy around here. This type of thing is common in bigger cities i have lived in. protect yourselves my friends. I dont own a gun at the present time but will be shopping for one. not gonna let me or my family become a victim , just didn’t think the day would come i would have to worry about this crap in the bangor area. sad.
Yeah, this is great…I’m leaving my quaint little drug and assault ridden country hamlet very soon, to be closer to the medical facilities in Bangor. Bus close and disabled as well. I’m glad that I can at least bring my weapons up to Bangtown with me.
yep, its getting scary. My husband and I keep guns in the home for safety and we both know how to use them at a moments notice.
I have to wonder…..what is a 20 year old doing with a handgun? Is this so much about protecting your home or is it drug thug mentality? Most 20 year old’s have a rifle for hunting traditionally.
what does age have to do with owning a handgun? i’m in my lower 30’s and I own a handgun. I 1)like to target shoot with it 2)don’t like to shoot a rifle or shotgun and 3)feel i’m better able to protect myself with a handgun than a rifle or shotgun, I know how to use the handgun and dont know how to use the others as well. I also would have been fine having a handgun in my 20’s. Maybe someone lived in the home that was over 21 that had the gun for protection, and this person, while under, decided he needed to use this weapon to protect himself.
The story doesn’t say if it was a handgun. Anyway, you have to be 21 to buy a handgun. I’m not sure any laws are broken if you are under 21 and have one in your home.
if it was owned by and registered to someone else who lived in the home who was 21, then no way would it be illegal. This guy could just have known where this gun was and used it. Now, I can’t say whether he was breaking laws by using it, for safety, if it belonged in that home and was legally owned. Its not like alcohol where if you have an overage person and underage person, and the cops are allowed in your home and there is alcohol there, they can get the underage for the alcohol, and the overage for furnishing (unless its a minor living with parents).
The gun wasn’t registered in the state of Maine.
A person that is 18 can legally own a handgun. A person that is 18 can legally obtain a Concealed Weapons Permit. A person that is 18 can legally. But a person that is between the ages of 18 and 21 cannot purchase a handgun from a licensed firearms dealer….go figure.
Are you sure it’s 21 to buy a handgun in Maine? I have my concealed carry permit, and the age in the booklet that I have says you only need to be 18 to apply for a permit? Maybe you can get a permit at 18, but you can’t buy a handgun on your own until you’re 21?
I am sure you can’t buy a handgun from a licensed dealer until 21. I did get my permit at 18, I carried a handgun that my father bought for me which is perfectly legal.
I think that was the law about 10 years ago here. You have to check both federal and state laws these days to be sure. I know some states used to allow open carry by minors although they couldn’t buy a handgun. I think that makes a lot of sense on large farms and ranches.
You can get the permit at 18, but you need to be 21 to buy a handgun from a federally licensed dealer. Private transactions are legal, whether you’re 21 or not.
Look at the bullet shells in the video.
Removed by poster
Looks like a rimfire shell to me. Do you even know what that means? Do you know that some rifles and handguns use the same ammunition?
You wait and see….the punk had a handgun.
You have to be 21 to purchase a handgun from a store. You don’t have to be 21 to own a handgun.
Are you saying that the private sale of a handgun to an 18 year old Maine resident is allowed?
I can find no prohibition in Maine law that prohibits the transfer of a handgun to an 18-21 year old.
Here is the only reference I could find – It is unlawful for any person to transfer a handgun to a minor under 18.
That’s right and nobody should rule out the older ladies owning pistols and shotguns either.
Do you deal drugs too?
What kind of a question is that?
Do you?
Where does it say handgun in the story? It could have been a rifle.
A responsible 20 year old has every right to have a handgun. You can serve in the military at 18 (or 17 with parental permission), so why can’t we let a mature 20 year-old own a gun? Seems like his life was made safer today because of it.
This is not good if they shoot them outside the home and a person died . 2 bullet holes in the car hope the people trying to defend thier selves do not get charged . I feel bad for them to be put in that position of doing the right thing and having to deal with it. No one wants to have to kill someone.
2 holes above the license plate does not mean that they were put there by the victims of this crime. But it would be a good way to tag the vehicle for further identification. If I wanted to injure someone, I would not be aiming close to the license plate. And it would seem that this guy knows how to shoot.
I agree with you . Just saying we do not know all the facts. were they shot inside? Did it have something to do with drugs? Just what i read not knowing the facts and the “facts ” i do here keep changing.
That’s is the problem with the tabloid journalism that BDN has embraced. The facts are second to the story. Get a headline first and fill in the facts later…even if you make them up as you go. Too bad really. BDN used to be a reputable newspaper.
Check http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/statutes/17-a/title17-asec104.html which describes your
rights in defending yourself at your residence in Maine. Generally known as the Castle Doctrine.
How did the car get shot? Was it invading the house too.. backwards?
In this Country everyone is innocent until proven guilty…..in Penobscot County you break into some ones house and they’re home and packing…..your guilty and your sentence is quickly carried out!!!!..Good for the home owner and my sincere thanks for keeping my taxes down for the price of a few bullets!!!!!!…..Bath Salts????
At first it said shot in the legs . Guess that can kill you wonder what the whole story is.
One of the largest arteries in the body is in the leg.
Yes I seem to know that just thought he was young and made it to the hospital time time one never knows.
How many times, has it been said,”It’s Just a Matter of Time”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
News flash — Time for you to renew your prescriptions. Paranoia can be treated successfully with the appropriate medications. Just sayin…..
this morning they said they had non life threating injurys what happened??
Obviously one of them did.
“This property insured by Smith and Wesson.”
Just a reminder……when seconds count the police are only minutes away.
So there was someone on the scene available to give one of the “robbers” a ride to the hospital? Get away driver maybe?
Been hearing a lot of home invasions in the past year. Maybe it’s time to raise the amount of jail time to the 20-25 year mark. Maybe people would think twice.
How about death rate of Home Invaders to 100%
I see some people going to prision for felong murder…and I dont mean the shooter….
One down, now that is what I call JUSTICE!
Time to take back our neighborhoods…
We’d see a lot less crime if this happened every time some punk decided to rob somebody’s home!
To bad they made it back out the door. I would have dragged them at least half way back in.
The home owner may get charged with manslaughter now.
It’s a ****** joke if they are.
“The man could be heard saying, ‘We’re sitting here and he could be dying.’”
Gee, if your buddy hadn’t stormed into some other guy’s home, maybe he wouldn’t be there dying.
“’It’s going to be awhile. They’ve got my car and everything,’ the woman could be heard saying while speaking on a cellphone.”
Sounds like the chick who (allegedly) drove the getaway car seems a little put out that the police have seized the vehicle for evidence in the home invasion that her buddies allegedly committed. Poor thing.
“It’s his blood that is all across the car.”
And the car got all messed up. Too bad. Wouldn’t have happened if your buddies didn’t invade someone’s home.
Are these people for real????
Yes and very comical to!
Can you run 850 feet per second? If not, your head had better be bullet proof.
Forget the dog, fear the owner.
I hope this is a good clean shoot, but I have this feeling that it is a drug deal gone bad or some sort of retribution over money, drunks or any number of things.
This is a terribly written story. Who is in Jail? The invaders or the shooters defending themselves? Who died? An invader or an innocent bystander? The woman with blood in her car, is she an accomplice? A get away driver? Is she under arrest? Dawn, Nok Noi, do you have any answers?
This is why Maine should consider adopting the Castle Doctrine.
Maine does have the “Castle Doctrine”.
http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/statutes/17-a/title17-asec104.html
Maine did adopt the Castle Doctrine and I believe it wass in 2007.
I don’t know how far the felony murder rule goes in Maine, but if it applies and applies with a broad reach, the surviving home invaders and accomplices could be charged with murder.
Yes, yes, yes!, I hope the trend continues, you break in my house, and I shoot you! That could be fun, The game will need a name, like “shoot the goon” , “break and bang” , “Drop in, bleed out”‘. Post more if you come up with a good name!
“Post more”–is that short for after the death?
Or my favorite Nab em and Slab em!
Oh I love how these things turn into Obama-hating/liberal pinko-fests. These punks don’t give a crap who’s in office, and more than likely, they spent so much of their blooming time stoned that they don’t even know how to spell their own name much less know the president’s name.
I’d venture a guess they knew the apartment occupants, and they were looking for something very specific. I suppose time will tell.
More neck tattoos…..should have known!!!!!!
Apparently none of you people have any respect for the dead, or their families.. you get on bangordailynews.com to run your mouth’s about things that have nothing to do with you! You people are pathetic! The guy obviously made mistakes in life, but you people that are so quick to say such horrible things about him are no better.
Christopher, would you say the same thing if this man or another hurt you or someone you love? I can’t feel sympathetic for a death caused by one’s own dangerous and offensive behavior, though I respect the dead and feel badly for the people who grieve him and probably have for years.
You can try to sell that soap somewhere else. We are TIRED of home invasions and illegal activities and druggies, and all the rest of it. You’re damned right “The guy obviously made mistakes in life…” Now that he is dead, the world is a slightly better place, no mistake.
Hey fella, you ought to slow down. These guys didn’t “make a mistake” they actually forced their way into a strangers home.
Home is a place where you get to feel safe and secure, and saying that this is: “things that have nothing to do with you” disregards the fact that this is our community, as the story said this type of crime is increasing. You bet your bippy this has to do with me, my friends, and my family, and anyone breaking in here better be prepared to be carried out in a body bag.
He won’t make any more!BaHahahahah!
Seriously?? Then I think that a person’s rap sheet (Record of Arrest and Prosecution) should just be re-named to “MYML List”……My Life’s Mistake List…..speaking pathetically of course….
It’s my understanding that he had gone out to buy some milk, but mistakenly found himself breaking into a house.
You are right. These people log on to run their mouth about things that have nothing to do with them. It is pure degredating gossip, endlessly.
People with neurotransmitter deficient addiction illness are in need of medical attention like someone with diabetes or cancer. If only these lock, stock and barrel people cared, but they don’t. The just enjoy spewing nonsense for their own personal aggrandizement and satisfaction. To show how tough they are.
I agee with you, it is disgusting.
” People with neurotransmitter deficient addiction illness are in need of medical attention like someone with diabetes or cancer.”
You still spewing that nonsensical gobbledygook?
Correction! I have no respect or sympathy for dead worthless scum.
As for pathetic! Look who’s calling the kettle black!
And finally, I am a whole LOT better than the dog about to meet his maker.
He didn’t have any respect for himself or his family or he wouldn’t have lived a crime filled life. HE GOT JUST WHAT HE DESERVED! Deal with it!
Thats the same guy that got caught with drugs while being evicted and violating parole … parole for what… you guessed it drugs…. what a legal system we have.. he didnt mean to judge let him out 1 more time… my bad… his legal battles are over. .. I would have shot him also
this is from his previous arrest:
Dellario was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and later released. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the felony drug charge and a fine of up to $20,000.
Dellairo has several convictions on his record, according to Bangor Daily News archives. He was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, driving to endanger and criminal mischief in separate 2011 incidents. He was convicted in October 2010 of assault, violating his conditions of release and burglary.
You know, a REALLY GOOD QUESTION would be: WHY was this scumbag still out on the streets? Whoever let him go again was not thinking in the best interests of the citizens of Bangor, was he? I’m pretty tired of leniency towards crooks. I’d like to hear, from the judge who let him out again, what were the compelling reasons for doing so. They must have been pretty compelling, seeing as how he was making a living preying on people.
The length of his rap sheet doesn’t change how dead he is. If somebody invades my home, I’m not going to be thinking about their criminal history. I hope some young people can think about that. You can have no criminal record and get killed the first time you do something like this. I hope some people will decide to turn their life around. I hope the day never comes when I have to hurt them in order to protect myself.
I will also say that I feel very sorry for the people who have to make his funeral arrangements under these circumstances.
The sign on my garage door reads…” Anyone found here at night WILL BE found here in the MORNING.”
Happiness is a warm gun….bang,bang…shoot,shoot !!! ;<)
it all sounds justified to me…….. but ….,after shooting both thieves in the legs i wonder if he was supposed to stop shooting. the danger was over.. i understand he shoot more holes in the car hope he has no troubles at all.. cause he got robed shoot the robbers killed one saved the court lots of money not to mention the jail he was facing.
ABSOLUTELY: The way to explain shooting after the criminal is leaving:
“He said he’d be back, and I was convinced that if he got away before the police arrived, he would get his friends, return, and do me and/or my family harm.”
Wounding one of these rats teaches them nothing except that YOU are the enemy. that is a lesson you don’t want them to live with.
personally i would not have stopped shooting till the breathing stopped

If I shoot a guy who is threating me and I screw up and wound him, I’m thinking I’ve really pi$$ed him off so I better keep shooting till the threat has ceased.
I’m more concerned about a wounded animal than one that’s not!
My sign says: NO TRESPASSING Violators will be shot, Survivors will be shot again
Good thing the homeowner had and knew how to use their defense firearm. The police are too busy shooting each other as in the ICE shooting in Los Angeles today, killing unarmed Marines dropping their kids off at school (a week or so ago), and blowing the heads off grandfathers carrying infants according to latest news reports today. When seconds count, the police are just minutes away. Too many of them are jacked up on muscle building steroids to think clearly, and all too often respond to unarmed citizens with lethal force rather than common sense. Given a choice, how many of you would rather have a legal concealed firearm on your belt than calling 911 and waiting for a skinhead roided cop to arrive when confronted by a gang-banger, ex-con, or rapist?
“roided cop”?
You don’t live in Maine do you?
They part of a gang? What’s with the “special neck tattoos?
Why weren’t the woman charged for their role? Accomplice/getaway drivers.
That part is yet to come.
Another NECK TAT.
The person whom lives there went just a tad bit low with the bullet, he shot him in the leg….If you were breaking into my home, the bullet would have landed in your head!
My philosophy is leg first, head next, if necessary. Of course if they show up with an AK-47, then it’s head first.
Looks like Dellario finally got what he deserved. Finally. I guess his laws, his lawyers, and his judges couldn’t put him back on the streets this time. Finally.
What does it take to be a “career criminal”?
Sounds like Humpty Dumpty….
“McCausland said an autopsy is scheduled Friday at the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta to determine Dellairo’s cause of death” Should be easy. Lead poisoning……………….
How about “Insertion of high velocity foreign object”
This is a perfect example of some the non catagoricals that the Maine Dems saved taxpayer provided healthcare for yesterday.
Oooooh, the truth hurts!
Where is it? I was looking for truth and all I could find was a massive generalization?
Same guy shot and killed is the guy evicted from a apartment i believe
Here is what to tell police after shooting a stranger in your home (please make sure they are dead)
“There was an unauthorized person in my home, I asked them to leave. They advanced toward me. I felt my life was in danger. I shot them once and they continued to advance on me, so I shot again.”
Then right after that “I want a lawyer.”
yup
Exactly spot on HHS…..
These are the same type of people democrats want free healthcare, housing and food stamps for!
Oh yeah gottmoxie. You’ve got it now. This sounds like a Limbaugh kind of comment. I would recommend you do a bit of research and then answer this question truthfully…I’ll even make it easy and multiple choice.
a) there are bad people who are poor
b) there are bad people that are rich
c) there are good people who are poor
d) there are good people who are rich
e) all of the above.
What’s wrong with that? They can vote, can’t they?
Lmao Well the good one can’t vote anymore!!!
surprisingly enough, there are alot of poor rebublicans in washington county and hancock county , who get state benifits and still vote for lepage …..can anyone make any scence of that?
must be because the GOP is so heavily entrenched in christianity?….and they feel its better to put jesus ahead of there own needs?
And you got this pearl of wisdom where?
i asked folks i knew why they voted this way….i couldnt understand why ..as poor as they were . why .they would vote republican.?…they didnt seem to understand it mattered …
ask em theyll tell you…its how you get this pearl of wisdom ….. or just drive around washington county at election time ….the gop signs are pounded into there lawns , amongst all the junk
do you live in the northern countys? if so youd see it …take a ride to jonesport, ask folks .
you would be hard pressed to find someone local that votes dem……and thats just fine .
but it still dosent make sence…..why would you vote in someone who is out to make your crappy quality of life even crappier ? its bad enough the govt took away all the cannery jobs, through misinformation….there is more than enough herring out there , they just dont want it canned , only put into bait bags on lobster boats ….surprise!! …who votes republican? the lobstermans association….where does the product go ? on the plates of republicans!!!..the govt wants rural areas depopulated , what better way to do it than to remove jobs….so they closed the cannerys ….the govt is trying to take away your livelyhoods
What is the chance? of manslaughter being brought against the shooter.
What about the two women that were with these guys???? No charges there???
Honestly, if there are shell casings from the gun at the end of the driveway as they appeared on the news last night I’d say the chances are pretty good.
whack -a-mole
Oh that gave me a chuckle!
Nothing says loser like a neck tattoo. At least he won’t be bothering anyone anymore.
addict. These people need their fix or they go nuts – like breaking in to someone’s house to rob them of money or other valuables in order to feed their habit and not go nuts for a few hours.
He got exactly what he deserved! I feel sorry for the person who was forced to pull the trigger and has to live with it. I can only say that you did the right thing! Keep in mind that if you hesitated or didn’t shoot, someone might have been beaten, raped or killed and that’s a risk you should never take! There are too many people in the world who think they can do what ever they want and don’t care who they hurt or kill in the process!!!! If someone breaks into my home I am not going to ask questions or invite them in, I am going to protect my wife, myself and my property with what ever I can get my hands on!
I love maine! Thank you for giving us an insider tip on how to articulate the words correctly as to not to get in trouble for protecting yourself and your property when someone violates the sense of security you have in your home. Maybe the gentleman who died in his death will get it across some other criminals mind that if you break into someones home you will pay for it. I love the Castle law! Criminals you remember it.
Just imagine, folks protecting their property.
Would calling 911 have worked here? How can a homeowner be sure within a reasonable doubt? In the cities, 911 probably works fairly well. Out here in the boonies, hard to say. It’s a time issue.
ITs the dreaded neck tattoo syndrome, the ink gets to their brain and disintegrates it ! Come rob me , i have a present waiting for you !
So why aren’t the two women in jail as Burglary accomplices? Trick question; because they are women!
The dead guy looks like some kind of gangster so the dispute must be prohibition related. Prohibition breeds violence. If stuff wasn’t illegal then disputes could be resolved in the court system.
Prohibition breeds this activity, it must end or the violence will continue to escalate. War is not the answer. You are one of the few who are correct in this multitude of comments.
when i lived in milbridge, i had put up sensors , for security …..one night the sensors went off , i slipped out the door of the house , found this guy walkin around lookin for something , he went up to my dumptruck, and tried to break the windows , so i said hey , and when he turned to engage me i demolished him , slammin his head off my frozen driveway no less than 10 time s …..
while he slept on my driveway…dug out his wallet called his wife told her to come get him before we changed our minds …you know why we never heard from lawyers?
because i said the magic words ……i told them i had never made that call before , but have had many oppertunities…consider it a break…..we .didnt call the cops …we dont subcontract out policework.
you call them it becomes a nightmare ..”..beat them down and dump em “, was told that by a east providence cop in the mid 80s …
we dont own guns , because then the cops cant turn it into a game ….they cant do much about beatin donw criminals with bare hands
You should have taken all their money too.
I think any peron who uses deadly force while there home has been invaded found to be in possession of diverted or illegal drugs, where the drugs were deemed the target of the home invasion, should be charged with accessory to murder.
Interesting idea, but I disagree. We’re better off without these people, and I don’t care who exterminates them.
Cool Neck Tat dude! Hey, wake up dude! Oh DUDE!
In my opinion, while everyone is responsible for their own actions part of the blame for this event is The City of Bangor Council. This is what you get when you invite 1,700 addicts and 3 methadone clinics to set up shop in our city. I know there is a lot of money in it for some people and clinics but this is the price we all pay.
I agree. build it and they will come….appear…
Wow, guess I was wrong. There was some gun control (steady hand) going on in that Apt.
Considering that at the same time gun violence via these weapons was escelating and your massiah and his minions were blaming it all on guns they traced back to border gun shops I would say they were very busy making that connection. They were even in the process of floating new gun control ideas into the news. You may have seen one. A proposal for gun dealers to be required to report multiple gun sales? Maybe not since you limit what news you will allow yourself to see.
If guns make crime happen, then do cameras make kiddie porn happen? What does the government have more of?
only downside is the second one did not bite the dust. Warning…the sign in my yard that says armed and dangerous is correct, and I am not referring to you….just saying
So someone is dead. D.E.A.D. and not only are people saying “he deserved it”, over 100 of you are liking these comments?! Was the shooting justified? In my opinion yes. Should we make light of the fact that someone’s brother/son/loved one is dead – in a public forum they can read? Absolutely not.
I think what some of us are doing here is trying to get the word out, “Don’t break in to our houses or you’ll be next.”
Lots of people are DEAD many killed by folks like Robert Dellairo who then make their case in court and are let off with short-time and a warning not to do it again.
There was a case in Connecticut several years ago where a person with a similar record to Mr Dellairo killed a wife and two little girls because he didn’t find enough money in the home he invaded.
I’m all for second chances for young folks who make mistakes (even big ones) but Mr Dellairo was 30, with a long record
and there is this:
“Police in Hermon also went across the street to 1834 Outer Hammond St.
to deal with a reported burglary. Burgess said it was not clear whether
that burglary was related to the home invasion.”
and this
Dellairo was arrested last month, after a landlord in the process of evicting him asked Bangor police to accompany him while he walked through the apartment.
During that walk through, police found Dellairo with diverted
Suboxone strips and arrested him on a charge of felony unlawful
possession of scheduled drugs and for violating his bail conditions.
Suboxone is used to treat opioid addiction. Had he been convicted of the
felony drug charge, he would have faced up to 10 years in prison if
convicted of the felony drug charge and a fine of up to $20,000.
and this
Dellairo also has several convictions on his record, according to the
Bangor Daily News archives. He was convicted of carrying a concealed
weapon, driving to endanger and criminal mischief in separate 2011
incidents. He was convicted in October 2010 of assault, violating his
conditions of release and burglary.
In May of 2006, he and his then-girlfriend, Danielle Bellefleur, were
indicted on one count each of burglary by Penobscot County grand jury.
The indictments stemmed from the Brewer Police Department’s March
2006 search of a room at a Holyoke Street boarding house that Dellairo
and Bellefleur were living in. The search, and a subsequent search of
their car, reportedly led to the discovery of a stolen credit card and
thousands of dollars worth of stolen property, including electronics.
This guy is violent, known to be armed, and a career criminal. The courts should have dealt with him, but here he was doing the same ole stuff again. Guess his lucky streak ran out…. No tears here.
Are you 4real…?
I’m sorry but I lived right there. There were drug deals all the time. The landlord was told several times and never cared. He was warned that those kind of people were dangerous and would bring in this kind of crowd. No one should break into your home but if you werent a known drug dealer you wouldnt have to worry about it.
Nice landlord. Looks like this place will just invite more of the same. They can set up their own little pharmacy. “Bath Salts on SALE today! We need to pay the rent!”
We could easily be reading this morning that a homeowner was found dead from a home intrusion. Fortunately it was the homeowner who prevailed. Mr Dellairo lived by the gun and died by the gun. Scum gets what scum deserves. Yes he was a friend to some, brother, father, etc. But quite simply – SCUM no matter which way you twist it.
Maybe people looking for easy drugs or money will think twice about invading someones home in this state.
need more target practice !!!
While I do feel for the families of criminals who are killed in this manner, I feel it appropriate to remind them that their family member chose to commit a home invasion when the occupants were actually home. It’s one thing to burglarize a home when no one is there, but to rob a home that is occupied, the invader accepts a greater degree of risk. I’d rather the criminal be dead than the victim.
Wow I cannot believe the ignorance of all the people on here. So many posts about the neck tattoo. So what get over it….. people get tattoos all over their bodies. Some of you are so paranoid about the neck that if saw ANYONE with a tattoo you’d automatically assume they are guilty of a crime. A man is dead here I do not condone the actions of breaking into someones else’s home. I do feel one is justified in defending their property as well. However so many of you are real brave behind the screen sitting in the luxury of your home. Crime is on the uptake here in this state due to drugs . But what really amazes me here is not one of you are even trying to offer a solution to the problem. Other then the obvious a bullet to the head.
No one is asking why is this happening. Or what can we do as a civil society to stop it. I do not foresee the future getting any better. Do any of stop to think that maybe if you keep posting that bullet is going to solve the problem, the problem will go away. Sorry it will not. But it might make the robber think well if I am going to do this, I’d better arm myself. Then what happens your wife husband kids get killed?
We are losing our youth to drugs and violence. And we need to do something other then sit behind a computer and be big and brave and say I’ll show them if they come to my house.
Yesterday a Mother and Father, brothers and sisters Grandparents, aunts and uncles lost their family member for good. But they had already lost him before that. But it does not lessen the heartache. Any one of us could be that person burying a family member. I lost my grandson to prison because of drugs. Believe me I tried to help but other adults who fought against it and provided him with drugs and also tried to hide him from me. When he sobered up behind bars “cold turkey” he asked me “What happened to my generation?” Why all the drugs and everyone thinking it’s OK. It broke my heart. I did not have an answer for him. It has been almost a year since I have seen him. My heart breaks but I know when he does come home he will be a different person. I detest that actions that put him where he is today. But I will never stop loving him.
All I am saying is stop take a good long look around. If your family or kids look perfect you’d better do a double take. Because everything is never what it seems to be.
Let’s do something to help our young people before we start looking a like a major crime city! And we are all dodging bullets.
“Crime is on the uptake here in this state due to drugs …. Or what can we do as a civil society to stop it.”
I’d say we found a solution. Robert Dellairo will not be committing any more crimes.
My heart cries for your pain, I know similar pain and loss for the children I love. It cracks the heart and can never be repaired.
Thank you sereantcuinn although I am not looking for any sympathy. I just want people to look around them and ask What can I do to help find a solution to the drug issues our youths are facing today. I know they are making the choice do them but what can we do to stop it. I recall my teenage grandchildren telling me about the D.A.R.E. programs at school sponsered by the Bangor Police Dept. This is where they actually learned alot of information about drug use, what the differant drugs did for people. It wasn’t a deterrant to the kids. It was an education for sure. I was really shocked to hear this form them and thier friends.
Please get me a tissue!
I am so sorry Pwand LD I did not mean to cause you to shed a tear. Or perhaps I am worng and your solution to the drugs and our youth is to simply wipe it away.
Don’t care why there are rats in my barn, It is my responsibility to get rid of them. Either that or continue to pay for the damage they do.
I’m all for giving people and rats “a chance” BUT I used to catch rats in my “have a heart trap” and let them go outside, Guess what they kept coming back, and in greater numbers, sometimes even when I was in the barn. Now I’ve got weasels living near my barn. they do no damage to my stuff, but look at all those dead and bloodless rat carcases.
This guy didn’t write a bad check, or steal a chain saw. He broke into a house while people were home. That (in case you don’t know) is a big scary thing.
Really a big scary thing actually I wouldn’t know. Haven’t actually been in those shoes. Guess I will have to take your word for it. So your saying it’s OK to steal a chainsaw or write a bad check? A crime is still a crime no matter how petty. And if your writing those checks knwoing you have no money in the bank while that is what I believe they call fraud. So what is your solution to today’s drug problem other then violence?
That’s like asking; What’s your method of breathing other than air?
I have an idea. You handle it your way, and I’ll handle it mine.
Meet my little friend, .44 magnum Ruger single action revolver, big bullet, big entrance wound, huge exit wound…..
I am all about peace, however, if my kids were ever in need of defense, Mama knows how to do it! My Dad and Uncles made sure we could all shoot. My Dad was an ATF agent in the early 60’s and a huge 2nd amendment proponent, NRA member and an excellent marksman. My mother was one of the first women to compete in the mid 50’s in rifle and pistol marksmanship in the Deep South and won 4 years running. She was the first woman to take State Championships in rifle and pistol competitions in college. We all knew/ know how to shoot. I am not, a proponent of just ” shoot any dirt bag until they don’t move, again.” Protection of life and limb/ family is one thing, cold blooded shoot to kill for the hell of it is another thing.
Known drug dealers, huh? What does it take for law enforcement to get rid of these people in family neighborhoods? Even if that area is low income housing, which I am unsure if it is, everyone deserves a safe, drug free, gang free existence.
Sux to be you dead guy..wont be robbing anymore…one pos of the streets..
Well, he did have a lengthy criminal history http://bangor-launch.newspackstaging.com/2012/01/24/news/police-beat/bangor-man-being-evicted-caught-with-drugs-police-say/?ref=relatedBox but I am sure he has a family that loves him.
Citizens unite. Burglars beware.
I have lost many people I love…in a variety of ways, some tragic, some of natural causes….I have seen some children that come from the best of homes “go bad” and some others, that despite the most horrendous of childhoods, become pillars of society. The point is, regardless of how my loved ones may have died or the circumstances surrounding their deaths….The pain of the loss was EXACTLY the same……Killed defending our country, died in a fire while smoking in bed, car accident, drug overdose, drowning,….Pain..pain….pain …ALL THE SAME!!!!!
The man has parents who are grieving their loss and yes he was probably “lost” to them years ago….Do they love him less because of his choices? Will they not grieve for him because he was a career criminal? Should he not be mourned because “society” has deemed him not worthy?
Shall we not allow his parents the decency to not read vile, hateful words?
It is my opinion…When we took God out of the classroom and Mom out of the home….Then began our societies downfall…..including most of you! “There, but for the grace of God, go I”
You can take all that pain and lay it at the door of the individual responsible for it, Mr. Robert Dellairo. Mr. Dellairo was the one who made the bad choices. With his record, it is apparent that he had many opportunities to revise his conduct, but he neglected to do so. He preyed on society and hurt people. Mr. Dellairo alone is responsible for the outcome of his last criminal act. Honest people are perfectly entitled to be glad that he will not be hurting anyone any more. Here is a tidbit of trivia for you: Every year, armed citizens shoot more bad guys than all of the uniformed police put together. Huh.
I did not say nor imply…that he was NOT responsible for his actions….I did not in any way trivialize his actions, past or present..I did not say that he had many chances of rehabilitation and chose not to take them…I did not say nor imply that he did not prey on society and hurt people….that is all glaringly OBVIOUS…..As with most people in Maine you miss my point and only see what you want to see…typical of most Mainers and their head in the sand mentality. I’ve never seen so many glass houses.
“shot in the legg nd the f**in hospital tells me ta take tylonal wtf” That’s the status on young Phil’s facebook about 2 hours ago. His wall makes for some entertaining reading. (after deciphering the writing of this youthful wordsmith and his pals .) I fear we have not seen the last of this lad unless he gets some serious assistance. (or moves back to the Keystone state) Perhaps checking out the local colleges and finding a career path which will be conducive to his talents will be a possible avenue to explore.
For the record, when I said the thing about happy endings earlier, the article (since rather startlingly revised) claimed that nobody had been life-threateningly injured, much less that one of them had died. My views on the subject aren’t that extreme.
