WARREN, Maine — Maine’s state prison is a bit more racially diverse than the rest of Maine, according to the Department of Corrections. The department released a database of prisoner information earlier this month, which among other facts details the ethnicity of each man in Maine State Prison.

While Maine is more than 95 percent white according to the 2010 census, the prison is only about 87 percent white.

  1. Somerset County Superior court

the only person to get life in jail for  a non  murder crime was a young black male
the only drug person to get 10 years or more for drug crimes was a black male

Both in the past 3 years

    1. That may be true, but what I saw on this site was more Native Americans,  and,  believe it or not,  Asians!,  and quite a lot of  “unknown ethnicity”.  So this subject is not just black and white.

      1. Unfortunately, you will see more Native Americans for the simple reason that they wish to live on their reservations and have the highest unemployment rates in the state. I do believe there is a direct correlation between unemployment and crime.

    2. BTW….This is a neat site to thumb around,  if nothing but Dancing with the Stars is on.  I think you’ll notice that they all look almost the same.  I don’t mean to stereo type,  but you can almost call the molesters before you read the offense.

    3. The only thing stopping cops from selling drugs in Maine is a civilian police review board

Chief: Drug testing key to stopping rogue cops
      By Matt Stout
      Monday, January 16, 2012 –
The police chief hunting for the “rogue cop” who swiped drugs from Attleboro Police Department’s evidence room said random drug testing could have prevented the theft — and he’s calling on Beacon Hill to help make sure it doesn’t happen again.

      1. A civilian review board is definitely in order.  Polygraph and random drug tests for all law enforcement and lawyers and judges most definitely is the order of the day.

        1. I would hope the hacks would see the benefits for creating a separate school for judges
with different requirements than those for lawyers.
I am also pushing to have law taught in grades 1-12 so when you graduate from high school you could pass the Maine Bar exam.

    4. Well do you wish to baby sit the black male who did his level best to hack to death a man and his 10 year old daughter? Do you really want a person who could do this out on the street? Of any race? He is a monster, that he is black has nothing to do with the fact that this guy is a menace.

    1. I think something about a minority of the minorities of Maine, are a minor majority in our prison system.  Phhhh!  I just blew my mind!

        1. Ms,  I believe that you should post one of your dirty cop stories under ever one of ipledgemysacredhonors comments.

      1. 87 percent of the prisoners are white

So they think this is news because Maine has so few minorities? Maybe the article should elaborate the point.

  2. What’s the point here?  Should our prison population be based on a quota system relative to the ethnic makeup of Maine’s population?  If so, we need better policing.

Police Capt. James Lee Foy has been fired.

      By PHIL ATTINGER
      Lakeland Ledger
      Saturday, January 14, 2012

LAKE WALES – A veteran Lake Wales police officer was fired Friday for failing to disclose that he pleaded no contest in 1985 to having sex with a teenage girl in Bradenton.

Capt. James L. Foy, 51, was placed on paid leave from his $66,000-a-year job on Dec. 6 — the day his past was revealed in a Herald-Tribune story that was part of an investigative series examining how unfit Florida police officers remain on the job.

The story covered how Foy had pleaded no contest to having sex with a 15-year-old girl in 1985 when he was working as a police officer in Bradenton.

Foy was 24 years old and had been a Bradenton police officer for three years. A judge agreed to withhold adjudication, meaning Foy was not formally convicted of the offense.

    2. Maybe they want to prosecute crime on a curve, or sliding scale, much like the educational testing these days. Of course, don’t keep score either, there are no winners and losers these days.

  3. Sounds like a need for some affirmative action. Go out and arrest white people at random and jail them until the prison population more accurately reflects the racial makeup of the general population.
    Problem solved.

  4. Hmmm, wonder what the problem is here, eh?

    Cop caught planting drugs (VIDEO)

Ultica cops in hot water after video of a search went viral

Two cops in Upstate New York are under investigation for allegedly planting
narcotics in the car of a couple pulled over in the city of Utica.

The Utica Phoenix newspaper has come in possession of the recording and has
since uploaded an excerpt of the footage to the Web. In the clip, a
Utica Police Department officer is seen ushering a suspect in handcuffs
away from his vehicle, then approaching the driver-side door, reaching
into his back pocket and pulling out a small baggie. The officer then
crawls into the car, appears to drop the item in question and shortly
thereafter exits the vehicle with the drugs that were allegedly
    confiscated from the car.

According to the Venice Ervin of a
local NAACP chapter, the clip clearly shows Officer Paul Paladino, a
white officer, planting evidence in the car of two black suspects.

  5. Charts, graphs, and statistics can show whatever you want them to. This chart says 95% of Maine people are white, but it doesn’t take into account that the sourthern half of the state has over 50% of the state’s population. There is bound to be more racial diversification in the sourthern half. And, since there are more people, and so more crime, the people committing those crimes are going to be more racially diversified as well. I’m not saying people in the north don’t commit crimes. I’m just saying with more people, you’re bound to have more crime. It would be interesting to see a chart notating what towns these inmates came from, and then cross reference their race.

  6. So based solely on statistics, the story title should read “Maine’s incarcerated criminals are mostly Black”.

  7. If only the hacks could read, eh?

    The Mathematics of Racism

Russell Simmons and Dylan Ratigan,  News

    17 January 12

we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, it appears
we are a far less prejudiced country than we once were. Individual
expressions of racism are less tolerated than ever, we have an
African-American President, and African-Americans are increasingly being
accepted into executive suites. Yet when we look closer, we find that
Greedy B*stards have rebranded racism and made it acceptable again, by
calling it “the war on drugs.”

These statistics compiled by New York Times columnist Charles Blow and author Michelle Alexander (author of The New Jim Crow) are mind-blowing.

Since 1971, there have been more than 40 million arrests
for drug-related offenses. Even though blacks and whites have similar
levels of drug use, blacks are ten times as likely to be incarcerated
    for drug crimes.

  8. Maine is a “white bread” state, whitest in the country, the survey says: 87% of State Prisoners are white people, probably called “poor white trash” or “grubbers” or some other derogatory term for white people who are poor, less fortunate and less talented.   These are the people who go to jail.. There is a lot of bigotry in Maine but its on poor people without regard for color of skin, being poor is enough.  Courts, cops and corrections could not survive without poor people to put in jail, its their white bread and butter. What’s the story about calling prisoner “inmates”, like they are having holiday on MDI  at the Inn. 90% of the people in jail are there because of the drug war, does anyone realize this?
Archie Bunker had a definition for “meathead”: dead from the neck up.  Who does this describe?

    1. Not Goldman Sachs eh?
      http://www.mvteaparty.com/obama-ldquoconsumer-protection-czarrdquo-linked-to-goldman-sachs-mortgage-scandal.html

Obama “Consumer Protection Czar” Linked to Goldman Sachs Mortgage Scandal

      Harry
Reid has threatened to start forcing the Democratic financial overhaul
bill through the Senate early next week. The bill would create yet
another new bureaucracy, the “Consumer Financial Protection Agency” with
the power to impose new government regulation on millions of financial
transactions. President Obama’s rumored pick to run the CFPA is a
Treasury official with a disturbing history of ties to shady lending,
bank bailouts, and massive donations from subprime mortgage
      billionaires.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Eric Stein is the former
senior vice president of an activist and lobbying group called the
Center for Responsible Lending (CRL). While Stein was running CRL in
2007, he received a $15 million donation from hedge fund manager John
Paulson. Paulson is notorious due to his central role in the SEC’s case
charging Goldman Sachs in a complex mortgage fraud scheme. In 2007, at
the same time that Paulson was betting billions against the US housing
market, his $15 million donation to CRL enabled the group to hire more
lobbyists to push its radical agenda. Paulson took home $3.7 billion
that year, even while hundreds of thousands of American homeowners lost
      their houses to foreclosure.

    2. Inmate is the proper name. Guest is what you call people who stay in hotels. Residents is what people in assisted living and nursing homes are called. Patients is what people in hospitals are called.

Even though a large percentage of the inmates seem to feel they should be waited on hand and foot. They have to get through their heads that they are inmates and not guests.

  9. I wonder if the Jail system gets extra money from the Fed for “Minority” people in our jails?

If they do, than it is possible we like to keep our jails well stocked with minority instead of redneck ring necks?

  10. Once you understand the criminal justice system is run to benefit the people who run it
you can go back to watching CSI.
