FORT KENT – Donald Quigley, 75, died peacefully Aug. 16, 2006, at his residence. He was born Aug. 29, 1930, at Eagle Lake, the son of George and Lilly (O’Regan) Quigley. Don was very active in his community. He was a member of the Fort Kent Rotary Club for many years. He was also a member of the Northern Maine Medical Center hospital board from 1971 to 1985, having served as vice president from 1974 to 1975 and as president from 1976 to 1978. He also served on the town council and the school board for several years. Shortly after receiving a degree in mechanical engineering from University of Maine – Orono, he became owner of George T. Quigley & Son hardware store in Fort Kent, retiring in 1984. Don’s favorite pastimes included golf and watching his favorite team, the Red Sox. He was both a loving husband and father. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Gilberte (Beaulieu) Quigley of Fort Kent; his children, Peggy and her husband, Bill Smythe, of Presque Isle, Donna and her husband, Bill Adams, of Calais, Karen and her husband, Bim Ouellette, of Fort Kent, Colleen and her husband, Bob Hoke, of Bangor. He was also the proud grandfather of seven, Andrew and his wife, Erin Adams, of Texas, Doug Adams of Bangor, Nicole Ouellette of Vinal Haven, Michelle and her husband, Justin Dubois, of Fort Kent, Ben Hoke, Sam Hoke and Ethan Hoke, all of Bangor; and the great-grandfather of two, Connor and Ryan Adams of Texas. In addition to both his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Doris (Robichaud) Quigley in 1985. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and noon Monday until the time of service at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will be after in the parish cemetery.
