GRAY, Maine — A messy storm featuring snow and freezing rain may be on tap for much of the state this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service has issued a winter storm watch for Oxford, Franklin, Somerset, Androscoggin, Kennebec and interior Waldo counties, with 4 to 8 inches of snow expected.
The rate of snowfall may be up to an inch per hour, according to the weather service.
The storm is expected to wrap up by the end of the day Saturday, with the winter storm watch in effect through Saturday afternoon.
Coastal areas were expected to see a mix of snow and freezing rain.
