Bath Salts Forum

HARRINGTON, Maine — Understanding the health crisis from use of the synthetic stimulant drugs known as “bath salts” will be the focus of the Bath Salts Forum to be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Narraguagus High School. A panel of local health professionals and law enforcement officials will lead the discussion and answer questions from the audience.

The program will begin with an Eastern Maine Medical Center informational film on bath salts, which includes Anthony Ng, M.D., medical director of psychiatric emergency services at Acadia Hospital and Dr. Jonnathan Busko, M.D. of EMMC’s emergency department.

A panel discussion will follow the film. Discussing crisis management, therapy and legal aspects of the bath salts health crisis will be Thomas Hope, M.D., emergency room physician at EMMC, Dale McGee, LCSW, psychotherapist for drug counseling with Tamarack Family Services in Steuben, Benjamin Verburgt, EMT first responder with the Petit Manan ambulance service and a representative from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Panelists will address questions and concerns from the audience. This forum is presented by the Women’s Health Resource Library of Milbridge.
