SORRENTO, Maine — The body of a missing Lamoine woman was found Monday on the shore of Frenchman Bay, according to police.

Lorelei Leslie, 57, was reported missing from her home in Lamoine on Oct. 20. At around 10 a.m. Monday, her body was spotted from a search plane lying on the shore off West Shore Road in Sorrento, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department indicated Tuesday in a news release.

Leslie’s body has been recovered and brought to the medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where an autopsy will be performed to try to determine her cause of death.

Hancock County sheriff’s deputies, Maine State Police, Maine Warden Service, Marine Patrol and Down East Emergency Medicine Institute all were involved in the 12-day search for Leslie, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
