PORTLAND, Maine — A Warren Avenue business was heavily damaged by fire Wednesday night, according to officials.
City police had responded to a burglar alarm at Cumberland County Scooters and Cycles shortly after 9:30 p.m., and noticed heavy smoke coming from the building, according to a statement from the Portland Fire Department.
The smoke was coming out of a vent, and firefighters quickly responded and had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, according to the statement.
Warren Avenue was shut down to traffic while crews battled the blaze.
No injuries were reported and Cumberland County Scooters and Cycles suffered moderate to heavy smoke damage, the statement said.
The fire was deemed to be accidental in nature and originated from a scooter that was being worked on earlier Wednesday.
