NOBLEBORO, Maine — A driver was taken to the hospital after their vehicle struck the Wayside Tea Room House on Route 1 in Nobleboro the morning of Monday, May 9.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore said the vehicle was traveling north on Route 1 when the driver swerved off the left side of the road, taking out a park-and-ride sign on the left side of the highway and running into the front portion of the house before the vehicle came to a stop prior to re-entering the roadway.
Collamore said he was unsure of the severity of the injuries, but believed the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle had been transported to the hospital with a head injury.
According to the deputy, no one was inside the building at the time of the crash.
The car, a Buick sedan, appeared to have damaged the building’s porch and front end.
Debris lined the left side of the road. Collamore said the driver was wearing his seat belt, the car’s air bags had deployed, and the vehicle was likely totaled.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was joined at the scene by the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service, the Nobleboro Fire Department, and the Waldoboro Fire Department. Emergency responders were paged to the accident shortly before 10:30 a.m.
