CARTHAGE, Maine — A tip led police to search a local man’s computer where they found thousands of pornographic images of young girls, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Tuesday in a press release.

Nicholas Henry, 31, was charged with possessing sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, McCausland said.

“Investigators seized Henry’s computer last week from his home at 32 White Street after receiving a tip, and found thousands of images of young girls,” the spokesman said.

Henry arrived at the at the Maine State Police barracks in Gray for a Monday meeting with investigators and was arrested by members of the Computer Crimes Unit. An investigator from Maine Homeland Security office assisted the Computer Crimes Unit, McCausland said.

Henry was taken to the Franklin County Jail and was released on $500 bail on Monday, a jail official said. He is scheduled to be in court on May 24.
