Other cultures have known about the benefits of grasshoppers for a long time. They’re actually a really great source of protein: According to Time magazine, they have almost as much as a similar portion of chicken.
And as this video from Field & Stream shows, a pile of roasted grasshoppers could help keep you alive in a survival situation.
T. Edward Nickens recommends ripping off the head and thorax, and then clearing out the intestines before roasting it on a stick over an open flame. The fire kills any parasites it might have.
